Hi guys, I have a problem with my laptop Predator Helios 300 PH315-54-768A. This issue happened all of a sudden. Laptop is over a year old but never got an issue with it until now.

When I turn it on, power led (blue light) comes up but after a few seconds it shuts off. That being said, laptop has no boot, no display, no keyboard lights except for the power led that comes up but turns off probably around 2-3 seconds.

I tried:

-unplugged the battery then directly connect with the power adapter. Still blue light comes up but then shuts off in a few seconds.

-reseated the ram

-power led comes up but fans doesn't startup when I press the power button.

I hope anyone here can help me with this issue.

Try the Acer recommended "Battery reset - which is to press the Power button for 9 seconds to reset the battery" like below:

If the above does not work then do a hard reset by taking the back cover off and disconnecting the main battery, RTC/bios battery and take the ram out, leave them all disconnected for 5 min and reconnect and reboot the laptop, as your laptop could have a frozen super IO or bios chip that needs a hard reset, and doing what I've suggested will rest all that and your laptop should boot up properly. If not, then you have other problems like, your power key switch, that is defective, in the laptops primary power circuitry stages in your mobo, a gpu memory, a cpu power issue etc etc that could some can be fixed and some can be terminal and your mobo needs replacing so, its best that you have your laptop analyzed by Acer or an experienced tech in your area.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I did what you advised and still not worked. Motherboard replacement is quite expensive so I'll try maybe soon troubleshooting this.

Finally this was resolved. The issue was the PCH chip got short circuit. Probably when I was cleaning the laptop. I didn't expected that thing would be the cause until I compared the PCH chip with my PH315-52. It has an anti-static tape while the 2021 models haven't got any.

The BIOS reset (CMOS battery removal while voiding the warranty) worked for me!

  • It is likely that there is a short in the 19v voltage. It is very likely something related to the input mosfets. But without analyzing with a multimeter, it is difficult to say where the short is.
