My Acer Predator Triton 300 just died..

It's actually my second laptop. The first was brand new refurbished and failed on me, i was able to return it to the seller for a full refund. My second one however was from eBay "refurbished", when i try to register my serial number it returns "already registered", what can i do about this? My laptop has died completely, it won't switch on at all besides a quick flash of the power LED sometimes, i cannot afford to pay for repairs and i hope its still under warranty?

Otherwise, having loved and used acer products for years - currently using Acer screens to display this page - i'll never be buying Acer again! Both laptops have been nothing but a problem, always throttling or blue screening when trying to play games or do something.. Absolutely awful laptops! The model is the 315-51 i think, has an i7 11800H and an RTX 3070 if that helps?

Kind regards,

Lee

Worth mentioning the constant overheating and throttling from both laptops again though. Absolutely awful laptops, it turns out!

Refurbished laptops are not new laptops hence and why they are called "refurbished" as they were already used and the previous user already registered the laptop with Acer when it was new and there is NO warranty from Acer, the only laptops that have a warranty are the official Acer refurbished laptops, screens and desktops products that are sold directly through the Acer site!

My advice to you is DO NOT BUY refurbished laptops especially NOT from the offical Acer sites! As your eBay refurbished laptop is not covered by Acer warranty (its should be covered by the eBay sellers, contact them) as its pretty risky to buy a laptop that way, as you should have learned with your first refurbished example! There is NO WAY that you can register an already registered and used laptop like you have and with the Predator Triton 300 PT315-53 as its NOT the PT315-51 that is an 8th Gen CPU laptop.

A laptop not switching on could have many issues like in its primary power stage, gpu, cpu, chipset, bios and IO problems, The only thing that you can do is to either take your PT315-53 to Acer or to an experienced technician that can thoroughly analyze your laptops faults and fix them. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Actually the first one was factory refurbished officially by Acer, sadly the second one seems to have been registered. It being second hand has nothing to do with this and some GOOD manufacturers still honour the warranty by following the device, not the original purchaser. My "second hand" (used) ASUS laptop, even though i hate ASUS, is still working fine and was less than half the price 5 years ago! Regardless of this being second hand or not, two Acer laptops have died on me now within far less than a year. Hopefully if i actually talk to Acer themselves i can get some help but i clearly shouldn't have bothered posting here lol

Heck, even my Acer Nitro gaming monitor isn't perfect - hated my 1080 Ti, sometimes doesn't actually power up and i have to power cycle it, etc.. I've been an avid fan and proud user of Acer for many years, starting from a pair of humble 56X speed IDE CD-ROM drives.

Before death, the GPU in particular was throttling heavily, losing about 30% performance, hot spot hitting 105 degrees C.. That progressively got worse, both laptops had blue screened and frozen on me plenty of times.. Absolute trash.

That was as helpful as a chocolate fire guard, honestly. Quite the opposite, i found it a little abrasive and insulting lol

You assumed a lot there my friend.. As i say, first one was OFFICIALLY REFURBISHED and returned to the seller to return to Acer! :) Was officially factory refurbished by them and actually died on me sooner than this one.. I've had it since September last year, the first one? Lasted about a month lol

Could have been clearer, but i did say REFURBISHED not used for the first one…
