I have a Nitro 5, model AN517, and am trying to install the HDD from my windows 10 computer.

The Hard Drive shows in the BIOS.
The computer came with a SSD which I removed for now.

When I attempted to boot it I got a rather nasty blue screen that said "Inaccessible Boot Device". I went into the BIOS again and made sure it still showed and the HDD still appears.

Is there a BIOS setting of some kind that I am missing ?

Any help is greatly appreciated

I put the SSD back and the Nitro boots to Windows 11. I then tried installing the HDD (2TB Firecuda) along with the SSD. The laptop boots to Windows 11 on the SSD and the HDD Firecuda appears in windows explorer and I can access it.

I would like to be able to boot to the Firecuda so that I don't have to reinstall all my apps and data

You have to assign a drive letter to the HDD and make sure it is initialized as Simple Volume GPT, do that in Disk Management Windows10 and click on the HDD drive.

why can't I boot from the Firecuda HDD in the nitro laptop?

if I take the firecuda HDD and put it back in my old laptop it boots fine.

Windows10 and Windows11 are not the same and then there are the different hardware issues to consider (2 different laptops).

True but how do I get this HDD to work in the Nitro so that I don't need to reinstall all my applications and data ?

HI @tvr4 you cannot place a disk with an operating system installed from another computer and for it to work, it must be installed on the same computer. When you install an operating system on a computer, it assumes data and technical structures or device IDs such as the system disk partitions or boot system information.

You can have two dual systems on the same computer, but you have to install the second from the first Windows in this way the second Windows will take the necessary technical data and the boot system (boot) will give a priority and you can select each boot with which of the two to start.

    Thank you.
    All the best.
