Hi,

My new Acer Swift go will not charge and status stuck at 74%. Tried BIOS upgrade to version 1.04, reset the battery using the pinhole on the back, still no luck. Battery report shows battery in suspended state. Tried reset using power button and still no luck. The moment I remove the power, laptop powers off immediately and cannot be powered on without connecting the power. Kindly advise. Laptop is only few days old and it was working good initially. Please advise

This is a problem with the battery as its fuse has blown and it will not charge, send your laptop to Acer Support in your area, don't open and/or try to fix this problem yourself as opening your laptop could void your warranty.

Thanks for the advise. Acer technical support advised me to reset windows and I did that but no luck. This would have reset the battery drivers as well and I did try that earlier as well along with BIOS upgrade and also resetting BIOS to default.

Probably next step is to take it to service center I believe and am not sure if Acer supports international warranty since am in overseas and purchased this laptop for that purpose.

So, it's likely the battery meter needs to be recalibrated. If your AcerCareCenter does not have the option to calibrate the battery meter, follow these directions

    1. With the laptop turned off, connect the AC adapter and wait for the battery charge LED to turn from solid orange to solid blue.
    2. Turn the machine back on.
    3. Disconnect the AC adapter.
    4. Use battery power until the battery-low warning appears.
    5. Reconnect the AC adapter and fully charge the battery again.
    6. Follow these steps again until the battery has been charged and discharged three times.

If it is still not working..

If your laptop is in warranty you can contact the warranty dept.     Go to the website support.acer.com - chose your country.   On the new page - scroll down -  click on "contact support".  Scroll down.  You can find the phone no to contact the warranty dept.  They will provide you more details about the warranty and also on technical assistance.

Thanks William_mk2. Unfortunately the charge indicator is always solid amber and it does not change regardless how much time you charge the laptop. The charge level is always 74% and the battery status just shows plugged in without charging.

When you did the battery reset, did you do the full procedure or just press the button under that pinhole? You should have everything, including the charger, disconnected then press and hold the button for 15-30 seconds. Release the button and wait for several minutes to allow everything to bleed off then plug only the charger in. Wait for the indicator to show blue for a full battery and only then do you turn it back on. Skipping part of that process won't actually do the internal reset of the battery. Also, are you sure the charger is working? You don't tell us which Swift 3 model you have, so it's tough to give more targeted suggestions. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SF3xx-xxx-xxxx.
