Acer Nitro N50-640: Adding additional hard drives

I have 2 of my hard drives from my old computer(s) connected to SATA1 and SATA 2 but they are not showing up in BIOS, Disk Management, or Device Manager, even after refreshing or searching for new hardware. These are older, mechanical drives. (Samsung HD080HJ/P and Western Digital WD20000JS ) I'm looking to transfer some files off the drives onto the SSD, they are otherwise obsolete. I connected a newer, Seagate Barracuda and it worked just fine. Is there a compatibility issue here?

I've tried connecting the drives one at a time, still not recognized in the BIOS or DM.

• SATA cables and clean and connections are tight.

• Power supply harness is good, I can hear the drives spinning and warming up.

    I hope these two hdds are working fine on a different computer. Connect it to a different computer. Transfer all the files and folders to external hdd. Simply connect the external hdd to this computer and copy back all the files.

    or get a sata to usb connector to transfer your files over. Not guaranteed to work since you're having problems connecting them with the mobo sata, but they aren't expensive and are useful for future use.

    Yes, both drives were working in my old machine. Nothing detected on SATA 2. Restarted and checked SATA2 with working the 2GN drive connected, worked fine.

    I will order a SATA to USB connector and give it a try.

    Enable safeboot in msconfig through windows and then disable vmd controller in bios.

    I did a safeboot and disabled vmd, still not showing up in the directory.

    SATA/USB cable arrived today, there are no instructions, not sure if there is a process involved or the drives should immediately appear after being plugged in? I did a restart, no go.

    I'll spend some more time with this on the weekend.
