Re Installing Windows 7 Pro on Veriton Using Created Back up DIscs - Clean Install. Lessons Learned!

Starting Point: Newly aquired ACER Veriton with Windows 7 Pro pre installed.

I recently buggered up my software by trying to install a dual boot Windows 7 Pro and Linux system. This included deleting all existing Windows partitions on HDD while trying ot install linux.

Luckily had created back up/ recovery discs before playing.

While trying to recover using the back up discs when I put them into the machine they would start to run the Acer Management Recovery Software but I would just get into a loop of it telling me that I needed to either boot in Legacy BIOS mode or, when I think I'd changed this in BIOS, to then tell me that I needed to be in EUFI BIOS mode!?!

Eventually by using a USB bootable version of LINUX and a partition manager (GPARTED) I completely removed any HDD partitioning and formatting from my HDD so it was only free space and tried restarting using the recovery dics.

Success.

I am also using a USB driven external DVD.  (Whether this is necessary I don't know since once the computer started working I didn't look to try other options.)

With recovery disc 1 in the DVD I just restarted the machine, initially having made sure that the boot sequence allowed me to use a removable device.

I did not need to select any device (UEFI or otherwise) I just let it start and search on its own.

Only thing I need to resolve now is the hanging start on windows.........

Hanging windows solved with change of CSM from Never to Always in BIOS.

This referenced in a previous post.
