The stock Aspire A515-56 bios of this laptop is Version 1.00 which Acer does not have on its Drivers & Manuals page for this laptop, as that is the oem bios for this laptop when it was released. Your Aspire A515-56 does not have the GTX1080 dedicated GPU as only the A515-56G model has that dedicated GPU so you don’t need the VBIOS version 1.34. as the last and appropriate bios for your Aspire A515-56 laptop is the Version 1.33 titled “1. [W/A] Force do one time cold boot after flash BIOS” so install that update as that should fix all the retrospective fixes listed of the lower version bios fixe. If your laptop still has problems then its NOT from your bios its from other aspects of your laptop.

Don’t downgrade to any lower bios versions as you will brick the bios chip and then you will need to take your laptop to a technician that has all the bios programing tools or you will need to buy a new bios chip for this laptop.

The Aspire A515-56 bios that Acer lists from is Version 1.04 and the lower versions are not available and you should not downgrade to also. All bios update versions that Acer lists are specific to fixing this laptops individual problems that the bios title lists that it fixes, you never ever update a bios just for the sake of upgrading a bios like you do to ordinary windows updates or a software update, so be aware of that.

What is your laptops model number, and what is happening with your laptop, as a bad bios flash will make your laptop not work at all and bios flashes don’t make your laptop perform worse as they only fix whatever the title of the bios says that it fixes.

  • Is your model the a515-56? Have you tried updating to version 1.34?

    correct,

Yes laptop model (a515-56), I’m bit worried to update to 1.34, updated from (theoretically? 1.20 perhaps lower stock version) to 1.26 first and then to 1.31 and suspend/standby issues (on Linux) remain, original stock firmware did not have any problems but done foolish update now want to return to stock (already found out method how to bypass bios version check) so I can update to lower versions. It’s just not sure whether it was 1.20 (as I believed or 1.10)… now speculating but in case I don’t find stock bios version then would start with 1.20,… thought even if I update to latest there will still be probably no support as Linux kernel reporting new/unknown bios flags/names???… but may try if any luck not sure rn?

model A515-56, it just after bios flash suspend to ram not working properly, with original bios was all OK. I tried to update to higher bios version up to 1.31 but useless same. Now want to revert to original bios version but cant recall exactly the version. Is there any way to know "laptop shipped with bios version?"…. i read for asus they put sticker on/beside bios chip or motherboard with installed version…
