Can't connect to Broadband/Dongle

I'm using an Acer Aspire V5-471G (with pre-installed Windows 8) and a Longcheer WM66E and another Huawei dongle. I'm using it and it works fine on my Windows XP and 7. The thing is, whenever I plug it into my Windows 8 laptop, it doesn't connect. Check the screenscaps below:

PS: The result for the first try says "CONNECTED" but "NO INTERNET ACCESS"

I have to restart it 5 times or more for it to work (The worst was around 10 times?). The modem's software/firmware is up to date, works perfectly fine on my other computer. What could be the issue then? I don't want to restart my laptop again and again every time I use it, as that might bring bigger problem in the future. Make sure the computer is completely booted before plugging in the device.

I've seen in another forum that updating drivers doesn't work, though I haven't tried that yet. I'm working on an important project now and all my files are in this laptop so I'm hesistant to do any changes now. But I will surely do so after this!

I also did a few tests:

1. I waited for a an hour before I plug the device thinking some drivers might still be loading that's why it can't connect easily, but still the same result.

2. Adjusted settings on my Avira antivirus (enabled ipv6, tried disabling, still the same)

3. Troubleshoot windows, no problem detected.

I'm thinking, if its an issue with the driver, how come it can connect after a few restarts?

I hope anyone can help.

Thank you!

coicidentally we have the same computer v5 (touch) and broadband wm66e starter. I called smart recently and said '..it may start at first but it wont work well because it isnt compatible with win8..' and they also mentioned to try to go to smart store and see if they can swap longcheer wm66e to another model thats compatible with win8 some of my friends seeing this as a driver or registry problem but im also using bluetooth internet in my phone to my laptop with this sim no flaws smooth connection its just the device

Wow. Cool. Have you tried going to Smart and have it swapped? I don't know if that's possible. I'm no longer using it (my longcheer), as I already bought a Pocket Wifi, and we also got our DSL connection back. But I kept it all in case something happens. Now, I'm having problem with my Wifi connection as it gets to "Limited" sometimes, searched for a solution here but it seems like it was everyone's problem. Is your Wifi connection okay?

I think we should try that swapping thing. Smiley Very Happy

Oh wait, funny thing, I talked to someone on Smart before, and she told me the device isn't compatible with Win 8 and that they "will" or "have" released a new modem. The next day, I went to ask if I can check on the new device if its compatible with Win 8, and they told me they didn't released any new modem yet. Then I stare at the girl who told me whom was sitting right behind the person I was talking to. Their customer service really sucks.

this thread is months old but still smart's modem firmware upgrade is jurassic old. my friend bought smart's pocket wifi but unfortunately none of these modems work with win8. because smart's modem won't smoothly work, so to be able to use it we have to register it first from a mobile phone everytime we use it. and i also have the same problem before with the 'limited' wifi connection. i just updated the wlan drivers and its began working smoothly.
