to keep it short I switched from uefi boot to legacy boot restarted and immediate got nothing but operating system not found. Average logo comes up for 1-2 sec only and goes straight to black screen saying operating system not found. Tried f2 tapping, f12, f11, pretty much everything to get into bios while turning on to change it back (always had trouble getting into bios for some reason almost never worked had to boot it into windows and use advanced startup boot into bios setting to get in most times). Pulled cmos battery out over night to hopefully reset settings in bios Nothing changed! Stuck. Anyone know how I can get it back into uefi to boot again.

Your (10 year old) Windows8 laptop HDD was formatted with MBR bootloader not GPT (UEFI) and your MOBO supports only legacy BIOS, (not UEFI). I don't see your processor (1.7GHz Intel Core i5-3317U?) on the Intel W10 list with compatible CPUs so you probably did a manual Clean Install of W10 rather than the automatic W8.1-W10 upgrade?

Try a clean install of Windows8.1 if you can find it or ask on this community how they upgraded their old laptop to W10.

Can you remember what bios version this V5-571P-6866 has? As these laptops came with either MBR or UEFI bios types (as you can see in the Acer bios versions for this laptop) the last MBR version bios is the version 1.20 and the last GUID (GPT) bios version is the version 2.18.

If you changed the UEFI bios to MBR and you got a NO Bootable Device then your V5-571P-6866 bios is a UEFI type bios. Take the ram modules out and HDD out and reboot with only 1x ram module, see if that reboots the laptop while pressing F2 into bios. But getting into the bios will not fix a “No Bootable Device” problem as that is probably because your boot drive is faulty, and you need a new 2.5” HDD which really you should be operating on a 2.5” SSD type SATA 2 drive. Put a new HDD and see if you can reinstall windows 10, as this laptop works great with Win-10.

Note: I've got the Aspire V3-571G i7-3610QM/NVidia GT640 GPU (which is a similar laptop and I'm still using as a Win-10 laptop) and when I bought this laptop it came with the Win-8 and had the MBR bios version 1.06, this laptops bios can be reprogramed to the upper GUID (GPT) bios version with no mods, as the bios chip can operate both in MBR or GUID (GPT) formats which this laptop has been running in the GUID (GPT) format since 2014 with bios version 2.21 which I did and its been running Win-8 and 8.1 and 10 Pro since 2016 perfectly and the OS has been installed on a 2.5” Samsung 850 EVO SATA III SSD drive for the last 6 years and works perfectly.

I can’t remember the bios version but yes at one point I wiped out the laptop and installed windows awhile ago. The laptop has a brand new ssd in it that was recently cloned off the old hdd (which I have still). I’ve tried taking out the ssd and ram sticks and booting with no change. In anything. On a new note I used another computer with Rufus to put a windows 10 iso back on it on a usb…. It turns on and immediately says “Secure boot image failed to verify with *access denied* press any key to continue. So should I try windows 8 or 8.1 iso and hope that works?

Glad that it worked out for you, Acer will not support W10 drivers or BIOS for your system so you will be on your own. Consider migrating to a new Windows11 laptop, they are being offered on sale now for $300-$400😀
