Hi,

can someone tell me please if the Helios 18 is capable of USB-C charging? And if so maybe which/what kind of charger would be best to get (wattage/pd/…)? (I would like to replace the heavy brick like 330W charger with something portable..)

thanks!

Is it a PH18-71? That is a sweet laptop :o

I think both should support power in , 20v 3Amp . So any USB PD-PPS charger should work to top up the battery

If your happy waiting a few days i could confirm if this one works with my Nitro 16 ( https://amzn.to/3Muf2wD ) . In theory the nano should work as it has a 20V 3 Amp output , I had the same though as you, the bulky charger is great for games but not so much if im just taking it about for work

It wont be able to drive the CPU and GPu at full speed without massively dipping into the battery though, as i think combined it would only be getting 100-120 watts of the 300 it needs

    Yes that’s the one :)

Ah ok thanks! Yes please let me know if it’s working for you!

I thought USB-C would be capable of up to 240W by now.

I was also afraid that there isn’t a charger with which I could be gaming.. But then the output must be 330W (like the original) at least right?

Aye 330 Watts on the original, usb PD I think goes up to 140 at the moment on the market, Anker do both a power bank and an adapter at that

but it does officially support 240, not seen anything adopt this though!

Bad news is the Nano doesn't seem to work with my laptop at all, picked up a new usb cable today just in case it is that (doubtful) but I'm not holding up hope! I'm hoping to grab a 140w Mac charger from a mate to see if that is able to drive the charger

Hallo, @dbjdodnsidlen , update, the reason the nano wasn't working was the cable wasn't playing.

It hadn't occurred to me as I'd tried with a random amazon c to c and a thunderbolt, but thought eh may as well give another a go, and with an Anker 'pd' 100 w cable the nitro 5 accepts charge! So the Helios should be the same :)

Somuch handier carrying around a tiny power

Hi @Leostat, great to hear that!

I wish there was one with which I could power mine for gaming :D
