Interesting. I will have to remember this if I decide to switch back to win11 - assuming acer doesnt update the drivers before then.

    Hi all,

I also was having a beeping loop when trying to use an Elgato thunderbolt dock that has 87 watts power delivery. I could see my monitor as an audio device, but no picture and no peripherals through the dock. Also if I tried to restart after plugging in this dock, it would get stuck on the Restarting screen and eventually I would have to manually force shut it down or it would get to a BSOD. I tried different cables hoping that one would be a 60 watt cable, but none worked. I also searched extensively online and 60 watt thunderbolt cables are simply not manufactured any more.

I did have a Monoprice thunderbolt 3 dual display port adapter that worked perfectly with 2 4k 60 Hz monitors from both usbc ports on the Swift. So I knew it was not a bandwidth problem. I was also able to get the Swift to work perfectly with a Plugable TBT3-UDC1 thunderbolt 3 dock with 60 watts power delivery. So to add to the OP discovery of 60 watt cables working or someone else downgrading to widnows 10 to work, another solution is to buy a thunderbolt dock that is set at 60 watt power delivery. Every company that makes thunderbolt docks makes at least one dock that delivers 60 watts.

I believe it is really important not to plug the swift into a thunderbolt dock that delivers over 60 watts since it interferes with the circuitry in the computer and causes a BSOD. In fact at first I didnt know my plugable dock would work because I tried to use it immediately after trying the elgato.

Also what is very interesting is that my USBC monitor that delivers up to 90 watts worked perfectly with the swift - no BSOD.

So the problem definitely has something to do with the firmware or driver specific to thunderbolt. I have no idea if there is any Acer engineer looking at this post, but hopefully this issue will eventually be fixed by Acer.

For now anyone with this computer that needs thunderbolt stick to mini thunderbolt docks that are powered through the bus or TB docks with a max 60 watts power delivery.

Correction - I see sgunes was able to get the Akitio Thunderbolt 3 Dock Pro which uses 60 watts power delivery to work. So I am confirming that a 60 watt thunderbolt dock from another manufacturer works as well.

apowers :"For now anyone with this computer that needs thunderbolt stick to mini thunderbolt docks that are powered through the bus or TB docks with a max 60 watts power delivery."

This is not strictly true. Since my previous message, I tried a Sonnet Technologies "Echo 5" Thunderbolt 4 hub (Power Delivery max 85 W) and "Echo 11" Thunderbolt 4 dock (Power Delivery max 90 W) with my Acer Swift 3 SF314-512-52MZ using 100 W rated cables and those worked. Other Thunderbolt 4 hubs & docks might work too.

I confirmed that plugging the Thunderbolt 3 LG display or a Thunderbolt 3 eGPU into the Thunderbolt 4 hub or dock which is connected to the laptop is also a configuration that works.
