power led turn blue, the fan starts, but the screen is black.

Did black screen happen suddenly for no apparent reason?

I just got the laptop, and I need to repair it. It was black screen went I receive it.

I downloaded the BIOS from https://www.acer.com/ca-en/support?search=145014431223;NX.HXDAA.005;A315-34&filter=global_download

and I use 7-Zip to unzip it. I got an USB drive FAT32, copied the BiosEs.fd file and rename-it BIOS_GLK.ROM.

I plugged the USB drive into the USB 2 port of the laptop, and pressed Fn+ESC +Power. And the screen displayed TianoCore.

The power led blinked orange, the USB drive led blinked indicating that it was accessed.

But after that the laptop just shut down, without rebooting and the screen is still black.

    Any ideas?

I hope you flashed the correct BIOS version; did you enter your correct and complete laptop model in the Acer Support site?

It could be that the RAM DDR4 module needs to be reseated or is bad. Unplug the adapter and remove the back cover of the laptop, disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard socket with your fingernails (wiggle) and press the power button for a minute (keep the button pressed down, don't toggle), release the hasp on top of the DDR4 module and carefully pull the that DDR4 module out, do not bend it, close the hasp on the empty slot till you hear a loud click, there is 1 x 4GB DDR4 soldered on the motherboard so the laptop should start without the DDR4 module you took out. Reconnect the battery, plug in the power adapter and try to boot now.

For BIOS, I search with SNID, I think I got the right model, but I am new with Acer so I am not 100% sure.

    SNID: XXXX

The laptop has only soldered RAM, but I think it is working because is displaying the Tianocore logo when I press Fn+ESC+Power.

I disconnected the battery and the CMOS battery, and I pressed the power button for 1 minute and the reset battery button for 30s.

No changes. The power LED lights up, the fan is spinning but no image on the screen, no Acer logo, nothing.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

I renamed the file  BiosEs.fd to BIOS_GLK.ROM. And the power LED was blinking orange, and the USB drive LED was also blinking

for 1-2 minutes. It's that correct?

    Thank you

Is this a new, used or refurbished laptop?

I think it was refurbished. And it is out of warranty period.

But I had the laptop before and it was working.

Did it stop working when you first tried to update the bios?

No. Somebody else tried to repair it. I don't know who. But know I realize that

I should inquire what was done with the laptop.

I got the laptop first with a complain that was hacked. I wasn't able to find anything. The owner gave the laptop to somebody else to investigate and when it was returned the laptop had the black screen problem. Now I try to repair it for a friend. At first I believed that the screen was defective, but when I tried Fn+ESC+Power, the TianoCore logo is displayed on the screen. So I think the screen is ok, and also the memory (I think that the iGPU uses some of the RAM to display the logo, so the iGPU and the RAM (soldered) should be functioning ). The fact that Fn+ESC+Power starts the BIOS update procedure that means that probably the CPU is working (for modern desktop motherboards the BIOS update can be done without CPU and without turning on the MB, just connecting the power supply to the MB, but I don't know if this is the same for this laptop).

The state of the laptop right know is that when I press the power button, the power LED lights on (a blue light), and the battery charging is also functioning (an orange light for charging and a blue light for full charged). When I press the power button for about 5 seconds, the laptops powers off, and when I press the power button again, the power LED is lighting blue, and the fan is spinning.

Please, if you have any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you very much for any suggestions and for your time.

I suggest that you re-do the FN+ESC startup procedure again but with an earlier BIOS version that approximately coincides with the date this machine was manufactured or purchased. Probably v1.02 or 1.03 in 2019.. Battery must be fully charged and plugged in before starting. Once the TianoCore logo appears, it should take about 3 minutes and the machine will automatically turn itself off if successful. If it doesn't automatically turn itself off, probably means the flash failed complete and the BIOS chip hardware itself is damaged. If this is the case, other options such as a pre-programmed chip are possible and discussed in this earlier thread on the same issue.

The laptop is manufactured 2021/11/12. So I think that version 1.10 2021/07/27 should work, but is not. I gave up.

The only option is to send it to Acer repair center.

Thank you for all the support & time.

May mean the BIOS chip is dead. Depending on your repair center policy, this could be impractical if they can't re-program it or replace it with a pre-programmed chip. You may want to consider purchasing a pre-programmed chip for about $20usd and either replace it yourself or have a local shop do it for you. They are fairly large pin surface mount chips that can be replaced with ordinary pencil tip soldering tools. Google keywords "A315-34" "bios chip" for vendors who ship to your location.
