Acer Swift 3 SF314-59 keyboard delay when typing duplicate leters

I recently bought an Acer Swift 3 laptop (SF314-59). I am having an issue with the keyboard.  Whenever I type the same letter twice it almost always misses the second letter.  I can type different letters as quick as I need but when I type two m's or two o's or anything I try to type two of quickly there is a delay and it misses the second letter.  I have to go back and correct my typing. I have seen other posts similar but this is not a 'filter key' issue.  When I connect an external keyboard (I have tried wireless and wired) there is no problem.  I can type the same letter 10 times in a row as fast as I want and it will register every key press.  I have uninstalled all the keyboard drivers and let Windows re install them after a restart.  This only happens with the internal keyboard.  It is making the laptop almost unusable.  Has anyone else had this issue and more importantly has anyone found a solution. I can't slow my typing down to one or two characters per second. Please help!

Thank you for the reply William.  As mentioned in my post I have tried your suggestions.  I did uninstall drivers and restart.  When I try to update driver it says best driver already installed.  It isn't a repeat delay issue. That is for when you hold a key down the delay before the key is repeated. This issue is the keyboard won't let me hit the same key twice in a row quickly.  I can type as fast as I want if I don't hit the same letter twice in a row. Also, it seems MS uses the same driver for an external wired keyboard and that works perfectly fine.  Using a separate keyboard defeats the purpose of a laptop.  Hoping someone else has the same issue as me.  Maybe this is a hardware issue with the keyboard interface internally but I would really like to solve it.

Hello, this is NOT solved.  I am not sure how the status changed.  Can a moderator please move this back to active.  I have one small update.  I booted into a WinPE environment with a USB drive and the problem is still there.  Maybe this is hardware and not software related.

I've asked the moderators to fix it for you. I don't expect it's a driver issue, or else you would see it also with an external keyboard. I also can't think of how a slightly loose keyboard connection could cause it. Likely it'll be best to contact Acer support and have them fix it, though they'll be sure to ask you to try everything again first. :)

I have a very similar/the same problem. the cause (at least with mine) is that there is a release delay, meaning that pressing a key has no delay but releasing a key does have a delay. this problem has infuriated me since i first bought this laptop and this is the first time i have found anyone with this issue or anything like it. i have tried everything, please, DO NOT ASK ME TO REINSTALL OR UPDATE DRIVERS, IT DOES NOT WORK. unless you suggest me to get a more recent driver specifically for acer laptops that i somehow haven't found, i do NOT want to hear about drivers. i have been at this problem for well over a year now and i still don't know what is causing this, if anyone can tell me how to fix it please do.

edit: forgot to mention, but i have an acer nitro 5 laptop if that helps.

I am so surprised it has taken this long for someone to reply with a similar issue. I also tried reinstalling drivers and even the entire OS. Your comment about the key release does make sense based on the problems. I used a separate keyboard when i was at home but working mobile was a huge pain. I eventually caved and bought a new laptop about two months ago. I have also had occasional memory issues with my laptop. I went with a Lenovo and it has been great so far. Hopefully someone eventually fids a solution to the problem we have had.

  • I don't know if it will solve the problem. But I would try to update the bios to the latest version.

does the issue persist for you when you use an external keyboard? if not then we might have a separate problem as mine persists even after trying different keyboards, which makes me think its a problem with the laptop not the keyboard

i just reread your original post and saw that it says that the problem does not appear on external keyboards which means we have a different issue than each other. we're also using different laptops so
