Warning: 23.Q5MN4.001 has been changed to plastic, not a metal Aeroblade fan anymore

A word of warning to anyone trying to get a replacement Aeroblade 3D (metal) fan for their Predator laptop.  The part number is 23.Q5MN4.001.  The original Aeroblade fan for that part number is the Delta NS85C28-18k16 fan, with metal blades.   I bought a replacement fan for 23.Q5MN4.001 from a certified Acer parts reseller and they sent me a plastic fan instead and they insisted that's what Acer has been sending them for that part number. It's no longer a real Aeroblade 3D fan, not sure if supply chain issue but that is a dirty move by Acer.   Before you spend $60+ on this part, be aware that it looks identical to any of the "compatible" generic plastic fans you can find on Amazon.

PH317-53.  I confirmed with multiple people here that is the correct part number (also shared by PH315-52) for the GPU fan.

Yeah that's the part number I ordered and I received a generic plastic fan instead of a Delta brand metal Aeroblade 3d fan.  I was told by the authorized reseller that's the official replacement fan now.

To finish up with this thread, because that store SourceITStore (US/CA) is still listed as the authorized Acer reseller and I don't want anyone else to get scammed after hearing from other people who also got ripped off:

I got scammed with being sent a cheap aftermarket plastic fan instead of the actual correct part number / metal Aeroblade fan. The person I corresponded with denied any culpability and claimed it was "the new fan Acer told them to sell". Considering that Acer was still selling laptops with new metal Aeroblade fans then, the store person was basically lying about selling a cheap plastic fan instead of the legit product for $60.

I hope this serves as a warning for anyone who is hoping to purchase from that store, because you may receive cheap aftermarket/grey market replacement parts instead of the genuine Acer part you were hoping to get. They did not admit to any fault, very shady.

Linking the cheap, crappy fan they sent for $60, compare to actual genuine Aeroblade fan. They shipped it from Canada so I was SOL for dealing with them, so stupid. Never again.

While that may be true, the fact of the matter is that I was sold a fake fan instead of the genuine replacement part by this "certified" parts reseller, and so were other people.

If they had been up front and honest with my questions when I asked if it was the metal aeroblade fan (gave them the Delta part # etc) before purchasing, I wouldn't feel ripped off. But no, they lied — they said yes, it's the aeroblade fan. They didn't say "Oh Acer told us to sell this other (cheap) plastic fan alternative instead for that part number now" when I asked specifically about it being the same exact Aeroblade fan as was in my laptop. They deliberately lied and misled me leading me to purchase a cheap aftermarket fan for THREE TIMES what it's going for on Amazon and other generic sellers —- I have an identical cheap plastic fan, down to the model/part numbers and manufacturer info, that I was sold by a random Chinese vendor on Amazon for under $20.

I had even posted here prior to purchasing from the "certified" reseller because I'd gotten the cheap aftermarket fan being sold as "Acer replacement fan" by 3rd-party random vendors on Amazon and wanted the genuine, Aeroblade replacement, and someone here recommended this "certified" seller. I'm not the only person they ripped off either.

No one should be ripped off like that from a certified parts reseller.

I just updated as a caveat that even if a place says it's certified, buyer still needs to beware. This experience actually turned me off from buying another Acer product as Acer doesn't seem to care about the quality of the partners they certify —- there was no recourse or even any response from Acer support regarding how shady this affiliated reseller is.

The funny thing is, they are STILL ripping people off from what I can see:

The fan in question is still on sale on their website, now for even more money ($70+) and check out the description + photo. They show a real aeroblade fan (Delta # etc shown) and the description even says "genuine Acer fan with METAL BLADES" (LOL???) but it's a complete lie, they will send you a cheap generic PLASTIC fan for that much money.

I hope no one else gets ripped off.

Showing the STILL ONGOING shady sale even 2 years later, same description as it was when I bought it but $10 more. I still have the emails and screenshots and photos in case they try to deny anything from back then.
