Audio problem with Aspire 5 laptop I've tried with 'enhanced sound' in the properties drop-down

I changed a while ago from an Aspire 3 to an Aspire 5. I need to use Zoom to teach music - all the sound settings worked fine on my Asp 3, but as soon as I tried to transmit on the Asp 5 the sound cut out . I use a video camera with a built-in microphone. All the Zoom settings were set up correctly for original sound. I unplugged everything from the Asp 5, reconnected the Asp 3 - all OK again, leading me to believe that there is an audio setting somewhere on the newer model which is causing the problem. I've tried with 'enhanced sound' in the properties drop-down, ticked and unticked - no difference. It sounds as if the microphone is overloading - it's the same with the inbuilt microphone array as it is with the external camera and mic. What am I missing?

Open Control Panel. Search 'sound'. Click 'change sound card settings' in left pane. Right click speaker properties. Click advanced tab. If hardware acceleration option also exists with enhancement, uncheck that too. Drop sampling rate to lowest 16bit level. Hit test button. If it sounds OK, test zoom again. If still no joy, change exclusive modes too if they exist.

It has been the exact same with me from a 3 to a 5, and I made the purchase due to the age of the 3 and the fact it was crucial I have good, reliable, properly running audio and visual for job interviewing using Teams, Zoom or whatever. Just copy and paste the title of this posting in search and a whole litany of hits appears.

In fact, it is degraded in this model and exactly the opposite no matter what I do. Audio is fine for a bit and then completely craps out and even when I excuse myself and relaunch the application It's still awful. I read every board and try everything and get nothing but pass offs by Acer Sales and Support.

Can't go back to my 3 and the new 5 I counted on has failed miserably and in my opinion, affected my chances of becoming employed again. Not a lot of $ to trash this unadvanced technology purchase and buy another laptop, and after being an Acer customer for the 3rd and very last time. No time to play the pc maker vs Microsoft Windows blame game. No more circus for me.

I solved my Aspire5 a515-54G Audio issues (mainly low volume) by uninstalling all Audio drivers using DDU in Safe Mode and with Device Manager in Safe Mode. Windows10 and later W11 installed the best (Microsoft) drivers. The Aspire 3 and 5 sound cards are not the same.
