swift 5 Fans go Full Blast When Im Charging? Is there a way to stop this?

As soon as I plug in the charger on my swift 5 from 2022, the fans get really loud. CPU is doing nothing, task manager has nothing intense running. Its just idle

Yes, windows is set to balanced power mode, and I did FN+F to the medium fan settings. Its fine on battery, but when I plug in, it gets loud for no reason.

  1. Is there a way to stop this?
  2. 2) Is it due to fast charging? If so, can I turn off fast charging?

There is no way to turn off fast charging either in Windows or with 3rd party apps. Windows Smart charging, Acer Care Center and 3rd party battery limiters are doing just that they block the battery charging at 80% (normally), not recommended as this interferes with the Microsoft ACPI compliant battery controller and will cause spurious readings in the battery meter and Windows Battery Report.

This is a W11 driver issue, or your UEFI/BIOS needs updated. Check Acer Support if there is a newer BIOS version for your model and/or new display drivers, I don't recommend that you manually install any drivers, Windows11 will (optional) update drivers when they become available (may take weeks). Flashing BIOS may brick your laptop.

Try to reset your UEFI/BIOS to factory setting, save on exit and reboot.

If nothing helps bring/send your new laptop to Acer Services in your country to check it out.

Sorry can you clarify when you say "Windows Smart charging, Acer Care Center and 3rd party battery limiters are doing just that they block the battery charging at 80% (normally), "

Doing just that, as in Not fast charging, or making it fast charge? I didn't quite understand

You are asking about turning off the fast charging of batteries and I am warning about apps that you may use (or consider) to control your battery charging process, like Acer Care Center and 3rd party battery monitor freeware.

There are misleading and untested assumptions promoting longevity of Lithium-Ion Smart batteries, mainly by bloatware vendors but even by Google and Microsoft. This "theory" may be valid for older Nickel Cadmium batteries that suffered from this Charging Memory aspect, but the new Smart LIBs are not affected at all by its charging history, and it is perfectly OK to keep your Lithium-Ion battery fully charged (100%) with the power charger plugged in 24/7. Installing Battery Limiter bloatware that limit the charging process to 80% is detrimental for UEFI/BIOS and Microsoft ACPI statistics and will result in spurious Windows Power Meter readings, Power Plans and invalid Windows Battery Reports this could well be related to the many startup failures of laptops reported the last couple of weeks on this forum. It is imperative not to drain any battery below its threshold (1-2%) as that will damage cells. Make sure that in advanced Power Plan settings your laptop shuts down (hibernates) below 8-10% charge.

Hi, @Puraw Oh okay, yes I see. Im not looking to limit the battery charge to 80%. I only wanted to stop fast charging. I will not use third party software I was just wondering if there was any regular way to do it under windows settings or Acer's pre-installed software

As I wrote you before there is no such apps in Windows or on the market. You can Google it if you like.

(Acer Forums withheld my first comment for approval, didn't realize why it did not appear until I submitted it the second time. hence the duplicates )

Okay thanks, so no way to turn it off. I guess one solution is to use a lower power/wattage charger

I was wondering about all the "answers", thanks anyway😀

May work but will confuse the BIOS-Windows battery stats like Battery meter and Battery report. If your Swift has USB-C charging capability that would be the solution.
