Besides the the Intel chip going from 12th gen to 13th gen, is there any other difference in the laptop? The SSD, the internals, the weight, dimensions, material, etc...

They seemed to just rename it from swift 5 to swift 14.

2022: Swift 5 - SF514-56T-797T

2023: Swift 14 - SF14-71T-74RF

The 2023: Swift 14 - SF14-71T-74RF is a much superior upgraded laptop overall with more powerful components, but its even cheaper by USD $100 to the 2022: Swift 5 - SF514-56T-797T.

The newest 2023: Swift 14 - SF14-71T-74RF has a 13th Gen Intel processor and graphics specs, like the Intel® Core™ i7-13700H 2.40 GHz to turbo 5 GHz with the integrated Iris Xe Graphics, LPDDR5 16GB RAM and LCD In-Plane Switching (IPS) Display, Screen Technology, Screen Mode WQXGA, Bluetooth 5.2, Maximum Power Supply Wattage 100 W and with OceanGlass TouchPad and has the same 2.65 lb weight. The M.2 SSD is the same but it retains the PCIe4x4 type which Acer does not put the fastest oem drives so that is what you can upgrade and also the ram Those are the differences.

Thats allot more power and graphics specs to the 12th Gen, as the 13th gen has an 100W to 65W PSU and there are allot more upgrades, but the 2023: Swift 14 - SF14-71T-74RF is cheaper so I don't see hwere your problem is, if you want to buy any of these laptops, I would go for the 13th Gen 2023: Swift 14 - SF14-71T-74RF as its a better lapto.

But again it's just the 13th gen chip that has change that's it. You're misunderstanding me. That's a good thing for me, It's not a complaint.

The reason I ask is because I want to buy last year's model. Its an i7 p series chip(28watt) the 2023 model is an i7 H series(45watt) which uses way more power than I need for a daily office computer. I prefer the lower power chip.

The 2022 model is also $300 cheaper on amazon (new), than 2023 model. So I wanted to make sure nothing else had changed

Then buy the 2022 model as that is more suitable for your usage than the more powerful 13th Gen 2023 model.

By the way, why did Acer change the charger from a compact 65 watt charger, to a 100 watt brick style charger?

You would think it means it charges faster but Because the charging time still seems to be the same as the prior 65 watt charger?? -->

"According to Acer, you can get up to 4.5 hours of battery from 30 minutes of charging with the Swift 5'"

They changed it because a puny 65W charger is not enough, this new 2023 laptop needs more power for its more powerful components, and when a laptop needs more power for its components it needs a bigger charger, and Acer have increased it to 100W to charge and run this new laptop, it doesn't mean that it will charge faster. Whatever Acer says about a laptops usage time like 4.5 hours is dependent on how you use the laptop and on what settings the screen is etc etc that uses battery, a 30min charge does NOT give me 4.5 hours of usage as the Nitro 5 is very power hungry and I'd be lucky to get 2.5hrs , and this laptop has a 135W 19.5V charger and from 10% and 30min of charging it only charges to a max charges of 60% of battery charge.

The SF514-56T shipped with one of several different chargers, some were the typical brick style, some were the wall wart style. They were all 65W USB-C though, I believe. The SF14-71T uses the same chargers, it looks like. Not a 100W.
