Helios 300 PH315-55 problem with manual driver installation

I just bought Helios 300 PH315-55 with i9 12900 and RTX3070Ti. In my country most laptops are sold without OS so I installed win 10 pro and had to manually install all the drivers.

I downloaded drivers from Acer web site but some drivers I installed through win update because I could not find how to install those without .exe or .inf files., having only Setup_APP.cmd and Install_UWP.cmd.

Could you please explain how to install them?

Still, after setting up everything, an exclamation mark remained in device manager for the USB controller.

I'm attaching a pic of device manager. Please, do you see what is missing? I tried uninstalling the device but after restart the exclamation mark reappeared.

Thanx

Hi @trkfz the procedure is not correct, if you install manually and do not carry the proper order, problems may arise.
You must install Windows 10 and leave the drivers that are installed by default.
Later, go to Windows Update to update, some updates may require 24 hours or more to be offered, please be patient and wait.
Once Windows Update no longer offers updates, check for errors in the device manager, if they appear, try reinstalling that driver by downloading it from the Acer page:

    Thank you.
    All the best.

Thank you for the quick response.

I know that the order of installation maybe was not perfect, but I could not find any specific info on proper manual driver installation, only generic advice to "install everything that is compatible by following installation instructions". But there are no installation instructions.

If you have a link with such info, please share!

After performing a clean win install, almost everything had an exclamation mark. Touchpad and network were not working. So I first installed serial IO driver and touchpad driver, then network driver. All downloaded from Acer website on another laptop and installed from a usb stick.

After the network was finally working, I performed win update and this installed Intel and Nvidia display drivers, and Intel system drivers. But still, there were lots of exclamation marks and several unknown devices.

Intel chipset drivers and Realtek audio drivers from Acer web site had a setup.exe so I used this, and for the unknown devices I used update through device manager. And this resolved everything except for the Usb controller listed under Other devices. It does not recognise any of the drivers from Acer website.

Any idea what this device could be? All usb ports are working, (only did not check usb-c with thunderbolt).

And please, how to properly install drivers without .exe or .inf files., that come only with Setup_APP.cmd and Install_UWP.cmd? Those are for example XPERI DTS drivers.

    Thanx

    You have done really well😉!

What we usually do if yellow exclamation marks show after devices is start in Safe Mode (Shift + click on Restart) and in Device Manager uninstall all those devices including the hidden ones, sometimes you have to expand the devices to see rogue drivers. Rebooting Windows will install the best drivers (often MS drivers)

    On installing downloaded Acer drivers:

    1. Navigate to the folder where you downloaded the file.
    2. Right-click the downloaded ZIP-file and then click Extract All Files. Double-click the folder that has the same name as the downloaded file.
    3. Locate and double click the setup.exe or install.exe file you want to install.
    4. Click Yes when prompted to allow the app to make changes to your PC.
    5. DTS (audio) and Intel's "Bundle" files are difficult to install manually if you don't see the .inf files anywhere. I don't even try it but always let Windows detect these adapters during the booting and expect Windows will install the best drivers, but make sure that you uninstall existing drivers first (see above). Intel has this Driver & Support Assitant that may help but I have mixed feelings about it

Setup_APP.cmd and Install_UWP.cmd are part of these installation "Bundles" that contain varied fixes and drivers for many different (version) adapters. You need the WinAppDeployCmd.exe tool/package to install those (too complicated for me).

Tip: If you have issues installing GPU and Realtek drivers use DDU in Safe Mode to uninstall all those drivers first. Don't bother with Acer Care Center but you will need Quick Access to display some of the functon keys.

I am sure you will get W10 to work, don't give up!

As I explained before ou must install Windows 10 and leave the drivers that are installed by default.
Later, go to Windows Update to update, some updates may require 24 hours or more to be offered,.
Once Windows Update no longer offers updates, check for errors in the device manager, if they appear, try reinstalling that driver by downloading it from the Acer page.

Starting from here, you are free to later change some drivers offered by windows update or acer to those of the device manufacturer.
There is no driver installation method, at least I don't know.

    All the best.
