As the title says, my laptop won't boot after installing a new ram. My laptop has a soldered ram of 4gb with 2,400 mhz. I bought a new ram which is a Crucial 4gb ram and 2,400 mhz. However, the laptop won't boot after installing the new ram. Any help would all be apppreciated, thank you! 😭

The RAM I bought:
Crucial 4GB DDR4 2400 SODIMM
CT4G4SFS824A

My Laptop Specs:

Model - Acer Aspire 3 A314-32 P2NS
4GB soldered RAM - 2400 mhz, DDR4 memory
Intel Pentium Silver N5030

[Edited the thread to add model name to the title]

The Acer Aspire 3 A314-32 P2NS has the following memory specs so make sure that you ONLY fit the below ram modules, as and if your laptop does not boot because of this new ram, then that that ram is the wrong CL type or its an overcklocked XMP type ram.

You can fit a 1x 8GB ram module of

    1. 4GB - DDR4-2400 • CL=17 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 1Rx8 • PC4-19200
    2. 8GB - DDR4-2666 • CL=19 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 1Rx8 • PC4-21300

So the ram that I bought is not compatible for my laptop? That's so unfortunate:( There is already a 4gb soldered RAM in my laptop so I thought that it would only need another 4gb RAM to make it 8gb

Take the DDR4 out of slot 1 close the laptop and boot Windows. Run the following WMIC command in Command Prompt opened as administrator:

wmic MemoryChip get Banklabel, Capacity, Configuredclockspeed, Devicelocator, FormFactor, Manufacturer, Serialnumber, Speed

Buy exactly the same DDR4 that is listed by WMIC, I would stick with 4GB DDR4 to guarantee the max. clock speed (Dual Channel).

Change the Crucial 4GB DDR4 2400 SODIMM-CT4G4SFS824A that you bought, but first do the Crucial System Scan and get the scans suggested and compatible ram for your laptop, then exchange the ram that you have for a compatible spec ram from Crucial or another ram that this retailer has. As Crucial are a manufacturer of ram and they have a very extensive range of all budget rams for your laptop and from what I’ve discovered they do have a scan for the Aspire 3 A314-32 suggested ram and SSD hard drives, but its best to go to their site and install the scan software and do the scan for your Aspire 3 A314-32 P2NS. That is the best thing to do.
