I have a new Aspire A515-45-R9R2 with Windows 11. I'm trying to set up a USB Sound Card for audio I/O. I notice that I cannot get audio out when there is audio in. I have tried two different USB devices from different manufacturers. Microsoft Help concluded that the ACER Sound Driver might be the problem. Is it normal to expect duplex audio in and audio out?

    Found My Solution

I discovered that the box for "Enable Audio Enhancements" in the Advanced tab of the Recording Device Properties was checked. Unchecked it and the sound input came back for all Apps.

Both my USB Sound cards (USBGear USBG-AUD3 and StarTech ICUSBAUDIO7D) now provide full duplex I/O.

So not a Windows 11 or ACER problem. Thanks Everyone!

The codec should support full duplex to internal mic, speakers & jack. Are the two USB devices full duplex Win11 plug n play or do they perhaps require drivers.

One device (USBGear) was plug-n-play. The other (StarTech) had an installable driver. I am not attempting to use the internal speakers or mic array but I noticed that if I drive the speakers with a tone, the internal mic is muted. I think there must be some attempt to prevent feedback and echoes that is inhibiting the USB devices. I wish someone could confirm that an external USB Sound Card works in full duplex.

Right click open sound settings in tray speaker icon. Click sound control panel in right pane. Do the devices show up in the playback and recording tabs? If yes, right click properties and disable all advanced acceleration and enhancements options. Also disable TrueHarmony if installed
