Have known hdd password, want to change it
Aspire AO756. I set a hdd password in Bios. It works fine. Now I want to change it, but in Bios the hdd password option is greyed out and has the word "frozen" next to it. So how do I change the password if I know what the current one is?

Here is what you need to do:
- CREATE a supervisor password. Save the changes and reboot.
- Go back into BIOS and CLEAR the supervisor password and exit saving the changes.
- Power the system down completely.
- Restart the system after it has completely powered down.
- Go into BIOS and you should be able to clear the HDD password.
Please let me know how this works for you.

You should have the following on the Security screen:
Supervisor Password Is: Clear
User Password Is: Clear
HDD Password Is: Set
Set Supervisor Password [Enter]
Set User Password [Enter]
Set HDD Password [Enter]You are saying that the HDD Password does not say "Set", but "Frozen". Is that correct?
What version of BIOS do you have?

What does it show in the BIOS, as I listed above?

Nope. Everything is greyed out except Supervisor Password which is in white and available to be set. The rest of the items are greyed and don't respond, and after the HDD Password item it doesn't say "set", it says "frozen. Again, I set the HDD password when I got the machine and I use it and it works fine. I just want to change it.
