Iconia B1 storage low even if I move to internal sd

I don't have a lot of apps on my tablet but recently when google search has tried to update I get a message saying low on memory.  I decided to move some of my apps to the internal sd but when I have done so the figures don't seem to change, as in used space and available space.  I thought I could move apps to the external sd card but it seems I can't.  I then cleared some cache on the different apps but the usage figure went up instead of down.....can anyone make any sense of this....I am so confused!!!

You must use a third part application. Move apps to SD is no more possible with ICS/JB stock Rom.

I use App2SD but there is many apps on Play Store.

I thank you for your reply but I am afraid I do not understand the terms you have used.  Could you explain further.  Thanks

    OK.

Go on Play Store. Search App2SD or AppMgr III (it's the same application).

    Download and install it.

Open app and let it create the list of all your apps.

Choose what apps you want to move to SD.

    Voila.

    Hi

    Thankyou.

It was the ICS/JB Stock rom I did not understand.

I would be grateful for an explanation of this.  You see on my app page it gives me the opportunity to move apps to the internal SD, which I have done and they are now ticked, so I thought I had moved them.  But as the memory usage did not go down I wondered why.  Are you able to explain that to me.  If they are ticked but haven't actually moved then I will download the app that you recommend.....is it stable as when I looked at it on Play store some reviewers were not very positive about it?

Thanks again, I hope you have the time to help me, I am very grateful.

    OK. Let's go.

ICS = Ice Cream Sandwich - JB = Jelly Bean (both are the Android version) - Stock rom = the basic firmware from Acer.

Android is not really easy to understand about memory (compare to others OS). When the system says "low memory" it could be:

    - low ram

    - low space for system apps (the most usual)

    - low space on internal SDCard (never on your external SDCard)

For low ram, you can use a Task Killer (see on Play Store)

For system apps, you must be root (forget this word!) to uninstall these applications. Depends of your model, but you can try to unistall your unused apps or widgets (Settings - Applications - Long press on app - Uninstall). Be careful if you do that.

For your internal SDCard, plug your B1 to your desk/laptop and save it (to recognize it, you must have folders call Android, DCIM, download...). After saving, you can format this card or delete all folders (prefer this one). At the reboot all system folders are recreated.

Last thing you can do: a factory reset. But, in this case all your personnal settings, data and apps are deleted.

If you are not sure, just uninstall unused apps. It's a good and safe start Smiley Wink

Thankyou for your very comprehensive answer.  I will try a Task killer and if I can rely on the App2SD will do that too.  I am worried that some reviewers have a bad opinion of this though.

Can you help me then with one final thing....When I look at the Internal SD section on the tablet certain apps that I thought I 'transferred' are ticked yet the memory is no lower.  Are you telling me that the apps are not transferred to the internal SD and that they are still on the system?

    Many thanks
