I purchased a Nitro 5 AN515-55 and its been NOTHING but trouble. I had it 3months and then it just shut off and would not start, kept saying No Bootable drive. I could not make the Windows Recovery tool work nothing it was just a paper weight. I call Acer they open a ticket and I ship it and they return it saying its fixed. I boot it up and it says there is no RTX 3050. I search all over the web trying to find a way to make the RTX work and nohitng works. SO once again send it back. Acrer said that they Replaced the CPU, Replaced the Motherboard and RTX, put in a new 8gig ram chip and SSD sent it back to me.

Its still broken. Everytime I randomly play a video game it just locks up and you can't do anything. You have to power down and start over. I tried new ram, bougt a 32 gig stick still does it. I tried reseating it in the other ram slot…still does it. I have updated ever driver again and again. I have the Intel Driver Support Assistant and I run it every time I boot. I go to the Acer Care program and tell it to make sure everything is up to date. I go on Nvidia and download the latest driver for the 3050…..nothing stops it. I have had it because it looks like they just can't fix it and it keeps breaking. Anyone have any advice?

Sorry to hear that you have had problems with your AN515-55 and that you had to send this laptop back to Acer. This is not a usual problem as after Acer replaced your motherboard with a new one your laptop should to work 100%. Reading your post it seems to me that you haven’t set this laptop up properly, with drivers and ram I suggest that you do the Crucial System Scan for your laptop as Crucial recommends a max total ram for the AN515-55 at 64GB 2x32GB DDR4-2666MHz - DDR4-2666CL=19 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8 • PC4-21300 type ram with 32GB module ram, what 32GB module are you using? Fix that as that could be the problem. While Acer recommends 32GB max ram like below, so be aware of this as you might be using the wrong 32GB ram.

Also you need to make sure that your laptop has all the windows updates up to date and all the drivers that this scan installs, also install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant and do a scan of your laptop and update all the Intel drivers to their latest versions, then get the latest NVidia driver and uninstall all the old drivers first, also install the GeForce Experience software and run your games within this software to utilise NVidia’s ultimate settings for your gaming and also set Nvidia Control Panel at Program Settings for these games or your high end software to the High-performance Nvidia processor, as all these settings and driver updates will most certainly make sure that your laptop will perform to its best within Win-11.

Do all this and your laptop will work 100% and at its peak performance especially with 32GB or 64GB ram and this laptop setup

    In addition to the above:

Check your firmware/BIOS version in Device Manager, should be 2.06

    • 2021/09/29
    • Version:2.06

Did your laptop come with Windows11 pre-installed and what is your Windows11 build, should be 22H2?

Check Device Manager for any yellow problem icons, check also the hidden devices.

The problem is I have already done all that. And the sytem locks up even if the only thing in the system is the factory issued 8gig Ram chip directly from acer. As you play games or just surf the web it will randomly lock up. I recenlty purchased a 32 gig chip and regardless of which one I have installed by itself the issue continues. If I try just running the 8gig chip in either slot it liocks up, same as with the 32 gig by itself. The PC was returned to me from Acer with Win 10 so after I recived it I updarted to Win 11 and the Windows Update shows I have no updates I have all the latest updates

I have the Inetl Driver suipport installed and run it everytime I boot up and there are no updates. I ran Nvida Experince and have the latest update and the Acer helper shows that I am useing BIO V2.08. Yet it will still lock up randomly. I was excited to have a new laptop after not haveing one for a long time but its turned into more hassle than it is worth, a gameing PC that crashs more than it plays.

And a quick check of Device manager showed now Yellow markss all systems go. Thats why I had to return it the SECOND time because once they replaced the SSD and sent it back to me with windows after it kept saying No Bootable Device the RTX had a yellow mark saying it was not installed in the system and everything got gutted after that.

Check if perhaps you have a corrupted system file by running these 2 commands (you never wrote that you checked this):

Make sure you are online and open the command prompt as administrator, paste or type the following:

    Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (this should return "successfully completed")

Then again in a new Command Prompt opened as administrator:

    SFC /scannow (don't forget the space before/)

If SFC detects corrupted files, run it again till you get "No integrity violation"

(The reason you refresh the system image first with DISM is that SFC compares your system with this image and if the image file is corrupt SFC will find nothing wrong so don't run the 2 commands the other way around like many do).

I ran these both this morning they way you advised. The Dism went thorugh no problem. Then when I ran the SFC it got to aboug 25% then the pc locked up to a black screen again. So I did a power down, reboot. And then once again ran the Discm and then the SFC and both completed 100% no integrity violtions. I ran them again just to be sure and came up with no errors.

Strange that you had to force the system to shut down in SFC, never happened to me, please avoid these force system shutdowns as files in SysMain will get corrupted. SFC stalls sometimes (will continue after hours) but just pressing the Enter key should suffice.

I would return your laptop to Acer once again and follow up with urgent phone calls and formally complain with e-mails, this is a very sad story for a brand new Acer laptop😐️

Well it was not that the SFC froze the PC froze. It just randomly locks up and the screen goes black with these bands on it. And then the only thing you can do Is reboot it. I will have to call Customer Service again and inform them that once again it is not working.
