    Hi,

The recommended combination by Acer is 8+8GB but 8+16 will also work, if you are looking for optimum performance I would suggest you get another 8GB module with same specifications as your original memory module and install.

Just in addition to the above and some advice to you, install CPUz and look in this software’s SPD Section > Module Mannf > Part Number and match the exact 8GB modules part number and manufacturer and search the web for the exact 8GB module, as the AN515-57 is a new laptop and these same ram modules are available new or from people that want to upgrade to completely different capacity ram like 2x 16GB modules and they want to get rid of their 1x 8GB modules and put them for sale on eBay.

That is what I've done to my AN515-56 which is virtually the same laptop as yours, and I found an exact module for real cheap, as then you will have virtually a 2x 8GB modules like the ram kits being sold, the module should be DDR4-3200MHz CL22 as that is what is fitted to your AN515-57 laptop as an oem ram. Try that as that is the best and cheapest way to upgrade with adding the same 8GB ram module for a total of 16GB ram that will work in Dual Channel ram which is allot faster and better for high end software and gaming.
