My voice is all distorted when recording, What could the problem be?

I have recently recorded YT videos on my Acer Laptop, however when talking my voice sounds all distorted. What could the problem be?

    Hi @Leedsarewe the first thing I would check is the recording level of the microphone.
    Is it the built in microphone?

    Thanks for the reply, yes it's a built in mic.

    Shall I check the levels?

    1. Select Start - Settings - System - Sound.
    2. In Input, select a microphone to see its properties.
    3. In Input volume, make sure the blue bar adjusts as you speak into the microphone. 
    4. If it doesn't, go to Test your microphone and Start test. This will help you troubleshoot any issues with your microphone.
