Did you double-check this model number yet? Is it UN61 or UR61. They seem different.

model is a Z3-715-UN61  |  SNID is: 61800021930. I spoke to Acer last Friday and they no longer stock replacement parts for the PC so they gave the name of a parts wholesaler which i called but didnt get to talk to them about getting another Acer adapter. Over the weekend i removed the connector tip from the Amazon adapter and spent sometime trying to identify the type, and find a replacement. I think i found the correct one and should have it today.

The messed up part is i still dont know if the problem is with the adapter or something else entirely. If its not the adapter im back to square one. Ive also been looking at replacement PCs as well but really would like to be able to salvage the contents of this PCs HD and need to be able to power it up to do so without paying someone..

Sorry. Which one is it???? I'm still not sure if you mean N or R. If R, the battery-adapters vendor has the correct adapter.

I already have the amazon adapter and just need to correct connector tip, which i should have today to determine if the problem was the adapter or if im really SOL. The time and money ive spent in the last 3 days over this is just crazy.

Sorry. Small differences in model numbers sometimes  cause big headaches. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the right tip.

No problem with recovery of the data on the HDD unless the drive itself is toast, and it sounds like other things got zapped before the drive would have. You just pull it out and pop it into a different machine normally. The tip for the adapter is likely going to be orange and should be sized to 2.5X5.5X11mm (2.5mm inside hole, 5.5mm outside of barrel, 11mm length). My guess is you got one with a 2.1mm inside hole, since that is the other common size.

I realize this is an old issue at this point but did you sort out your issue Johnrm? I'm having a similiar issue at the moment with the same PC. Just wondering what happened to yours and what was the solution if there was any at all. Thanks!
