I needed to install arch linux on my helios 300 PH315-55 i9 12th gen 3060gb but I remember that setting up a fresh install of windows 11 from a bootable usb was such a big hassle because the irst drivers need to be installed on the beginning of the windows installation for the machine to recognise the drives and the mouse doesn't work until you've installed the os and then used just the keyboard to install all the drivers. in short words its a pretty complex process, let alone i can't imagine how that complexity will rise once I begin installing arch, I'm expecting problems in the grub bootloader, the nvidia drivers, the wlan drivers and whatnot, So I was just hoping that some tech saint can give me a detailed step by step guide to get arch up and running in this machine without banging my head up against walls.

Your comments are not true when you say…..“because the irst drivers need to be installed on the beginning of the windows installation for the machine to recognise the drives and the mouse doesn't work until you've installed the os and then used just the keyboard to install all the drivers” where did you get all this from?…..

A Clean Install of Win-11 is a very easy process, with your PH315-55 laptop and when you install Win-11 all you need to have is a separate USB with the IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver Version: 19.1.0.1001 that is if you delete the boot drive and want to reformat it completely, so that the Win-11 installation can proceed, but that is all, you don’t need the Intel Iris Xe graphics drivers or the Mouse driver to be installed, the installation process doesn’t need these drivers as its already built into the installation files, how did you get all these problems with your Win-11 install? As I’ve never ever experienced these problems ever with Win-8, 10 or 11 windows installation.

Anyway, with the install of Arch Linux OS, as a dual boot there are allot of guides on the web, have a look at this guide “How to Install Arch Linux as its too long to explain to you here, but the basics are that you have to do this:

    1. Create the USB installer First, I downloaded the official Arch Linux ISO from their website. I decided on the 64-bit version. ...

    2. Boot from the USB stick I rebooted the laptop, plugged in the USB stick, and entered the BIOS. ...

    3. Check the network ...

    4. Partition the hard drive or install Arch Linux on the M.2 SSD 2 drive...

    5. Format the partitions ...

    6. Installing the base Arch Linux system ...

    7. Configure Arch Linux ...

Good luck and hope this helps you out, cheers😁

    Thank you for your response,
However, my case was completely opposite to what you just mentioned, I usually save all basic drivers in a usb in case things go south.
When I began the windows 11 install I had to load the irst drivers so it recognises the drives, at this stage I was only using the tab keys to navigate since the touchpad didn't work, after loading the irst drivers the setup recognises the drives and i still have to use the tab keys to navigate since the mouse doesn't work, once windows 11 is installed, I use the win + e to naviagte to my usb drive with the drivers via the file explorer and install the basic drivers like the touchpad, wlan, and realtek audio drivers since none of this stuff works out of the box.

When I'm going to be installing arch I'll definitely have to connect to an ethernet because i don't expect the network card to work out of the box either but I'm more concerned about how I'll get the proper drivers installed in arch linux since the drivers that are on the website are oriented for windows only.
