RAM upgrade for Aspire VN7-791G-58HZ. Maximum RAM

The original RAM size was 8 Gb. There are two modules Samsung M471B5173DB0-YK0 x 4 Gb. I decided to increase RAM to 16GB and bought two Samsung M471B1G73DB0-YK0 modules with 8 Gb each. For some unknown reason the laptop does not boot when 2 new modules are installed. But it works with one old and one new module (4+8=12 GB). I checked that all modules are working properly. Could you tell me please, what is the problem? Is the maximum RAM size for this model only 12gb?

All characteristics of the modules are the same: frequency 1600, latency 11, etc.

You mean you solved your problem?

8GB (2x 4096MB) – DDR3L, 1600MHz maximum is what I found on the web but some models do support 16GB DDR3. If it only works with 12 GB (4+8 GB) I would go with that. The downside is that you won't have Dual Channel (slower) like with the original 2x4GB DDR3.
