i bought an vg240y the last year.

when i bought it ….. it came with DP cable only and i had an 2.0 hdmi cable from the previous monitor

so when i unboxed the monitor and setup it i t ried to plug the DP cable and play using it but it showed a message 'cable not connected' so i tried to plug in the hdmi 2.0 cable and it actualy WORKED.
but after a while i started to ask my self why its not working and i suggested my 2 friends to get the same monitor and when they tried to use the DP cable it worked for them so i sent them mine to make sure that the cable was alright and it worked when they tried it for them.

then i skipped this part and said its ok i can just use the hdmi , but recently i changed my gpu to rtx 3060 after i had gt 640 , so i started trying games finally on 165 and it was working all good…..but then i saw the HDR option and this option wasnt available with the previous GPU ‘gt 640’ so i went to try the HDR.

first when i turned it on from the monitor and the windows i saw some glitches and weird things then it stopped glitching and then i opened overwatch and turned on the HDR and as soon as i turned it on and joined the shoting range it started to glitch so hard that i couldnt even close the hdr from the monitor or even turn it off so i just unplugged the screen and was dying of fear that i broke my new monitor.
then i just did an alt + F4 and quit the game then clossed the HDR and found out that i has 1 more prob.

so i need help to find why the DP is not working and why i cant use HDR

DP : display port

What is your desktops PCs model number? As a DP or HDMI correct cable should work 100% with an RTX 3060 gpu. Give us more details on your desktop PC as that has a big bearing on what DP and HDMI versions ports that it has, and what cables you should use, As that could be why the Nitro VG240Y Widescreen LCD Monitor doesn’t connect or work with your desktop PC.

The Nitro VG240Y Widescreen LCD Monitor is a max 75Hz refresher rate monitor at max resolution of 1920x1080p UXGA.

idk how to get dp and hdmi versions ports
but my monitor is not 75hz its 165hz
and its connected to hdmi 2.0 rn
and i fixed HDR issue by decreasing the refresh rate to 144 istead of 165 and it stopped glitching but the DP still now working
and here is my monitor model :MMTDNEE012XXXX

The System Info that you have above says nothing as all I can read from that is that you have an ASUS PC, there is no ASUS model number for the PC, the Acer monitor model :MMTDNEE012XXXX that you have given is not an SNID number, if the Acer monitor is the Nitro VG240Y Widescreen LCD Monitor then the specifications from the Acer eManual online for the “Standard Timing Table” is what I’ve given you above, you must have a different Acer model VG240Y it could be YD /YS/YP or a YU model number if your monitor has a 165Hz refresher rate then it must not be the Nitro VG240Y Widescreen LCD Monitor?

Have a look at the back of the monitor on a sticker as it should have the SNID number and the model number of your monitor, take a caption and post it to us, as you must be using the wrong DP or HDMI cables with your ASUS PC or the PC is faulty as an RTX3060 should run this monitor at 165Hz refresher rate and at 1920x1080p resolution easily and perfectly.

My apologies, The SNID is: XXXXX, it's an IPS 165Hz monitor

    @walidyo

Below is the resolution that you can get on your monitor

But 165Hz you can achive it only by overclocking.

what do u mean by ‘overclocking’ ?
i opened the display settings and found the 165 without doing anything else.
and iam using 1920x1080 with 165hz but even if i used any refresh rate it dosent help with the DP problem
