I just bought my predator orion 5000 desktop, start playing MW2 and im checking out the temps through predatorsense and realize the CPU is maxxing out at 100 degrees celcius while im in game. Even during downloading it will rise to 70 degrees. The rest of the system is 30 degrees and the GPU usually is around 50 degrees celcius. Could there be an issue with the temperature monitor on the CPU?

CPU too hot. Do you also have a discrete GPU card installed?

I had the same exact issue. Do you put the PredatorSense into Gaming mode? Becasue apparently the fans' automatic setting does not ramp up the fans properly. If you want to spend a little but gain a lot, I suggest buying and installing a tower cpu cooler. I got the Deep Cool AK400 and installed it and now my CPU in gaming mode does not exceed 63C! If I put it on autyomatic mode, it goes to around 70C.

j1shuman as Alijoh stated you will need to put predator sense in gaming mode and eventually get a tower cooler that fits your budget i got the Noctua NH-U12A, with the stock cooler i was getting 85C before i learned how to adjust the fans in predator sense, then them same games averaged 63C in gaming mode with the stock cooler and after the tower cooler upgrade 43C and i have two fans mounted to the top rack for added exhaust and it helps and i always run in gaming mode heh thats my personal preference, i also upgraded the memory to 4x16 from crucial now the games run at almost 200 fps on average at 1080P and my pc smokes now i cant believe how fast it is and i removed the hdd caddy for better air flow and im going to mount a fan down there to help cool the gpu and for the cpu i changed the intel bracket that holds in down in place with this see link below. other than that welcome to this amazing forum filled with amazing people who all help each other out its great here !!@!!

Wow nice set up, so update, I purchased the Noctua NH-U12A, went to install it after reading basically every recent post on it, thinking that it was going to be basically plug and play well, i missed the small detail of needing the m3 x 10mm screws to fit with spacers, so i went the route where i saw some people had success removing the mother board and using the backerplate, well tragically enough the backerplate is not modifiable even though i tried to make it modular by barbaric means. Mind you this is my first time ever tearing a PC down this far (the most ive done is install ram), i put everything back together cleaned the heat sink and the processor of the terrible thermal paste job and reapplied the Noctua thermal paste. Thankfully everything turned back on (I wasnt very hopeful) that brought my temps down to 70-90 when i did some testing and so far i havent seen it just peg out at 100. I did order a screw set so im hoping i can work with the Noctua CPU cooler i purchased in a few days.

Thanks for reporting back. Hopefully the re-paste did the job. Good luck.🙂

thats strange the supplied noctua lga1700 backplate should have worked with no issues unless im misunderstanding what you said you did?

well, here is what i did last night because i was bored lol i put the noctua fans on the top rack and the acer argb frostblade fans on the cooler and that alone dropped my temps another 3-5C the acer fans run at 2250 rpm and the noctua only 2000 so that 500 rpm seems to have made a difference and i was just experimenting so now im thinking of getting 3000 rpm fans for the noctua cooler next.

I fixed this problem by installing two Noctua NR-S12A PWM case fans on top in intake configurations (air goes in). My CPU temps dropped from 90-100C to 63C sustained during gaming with Predator Sense in auto mode. I did not have to install aftermarket cpu coolers. I was playing AC Odyssey with all settings in ultra in 1440p resolution.

yeah, that makes sense and its cheaper for sure and easier lol, and i know i experimented with the top fans as intake and-or exhaust when using my tower cooler, the top fans have to be exhaust, when i changed them to intake they made everything run warmer thats for sure over 5C warmer infact, but in your case i can see where bringing in cold air helps the subpar stock cooler, i know i never thought of that lol, i also removed the HDD caddy and GPU bracket for increased air flow and it helped drop temps 5C or more so thats cool also lol

Hey just to update, you are correct it actually made the glass panel warmer just along where the GPU lines up. I think the front and top fans with both as intakes counteracts each other. I switched the top fans to exhaust and it made my case cooler. CPU temps ranges from 67-75C, which is still cooler compared to 90-100C before installing the top fans.

Just for the information of anyone who might see this post, I just switched my top fans to exhaust mode. Please see previous comment to see why. By doing that, my case now is on negative airflow and I am planning to install air filters to the grills on the back panel to minimize dust build up inside the case. Hope it helps.

well its always good to experiment no harm in that, maybe down the road you will get a tower cooler you like.

i also put cooler master mobius high velocity fans on the Noctua NH-U12A.

that dropped temps 3-5C on max settings, the temps i get now i couldnt get before on max settings, i would have to lower it one preset, so there is the proof doing what i did helped alot.

and i know my cable management is terrible, one day ill have everything through the back, but for now as i experiment with stuff ill leave it as is heh.

one last thing and im a firm believer in this, run the fans in gaming mode when gaming, running benchmark tests, etc, it matters and changes things for the better.

I decided to get a tower cooler but it was a Noctua NH-U12S. It was indeed a great improvement than just adding two top fans. After running Cinebench, one of the cores' temperature only went as to as high to 85C, a significant improvement from the stock cooler which went as high as 100C before. So I returned the two Noctua case fans to the store and probably will use the Noctua fan that came with the U12S later on as an additional case fan. I still used the stock predator cpu fan for the U12S heatsink. I think the flaw that the stock cooler has was its design. I noticed that the plate that touches the CPU did not do a good job of covering the whole surface area of the CPU that is why it could not really dissipate the heat from the CPU. I hope Acer improves on this area.

well thats awesome but ya shoulda kept the 2 fans for the top rack my cinebenchr23 never goes over 64 now, the more fans the better, and then go one step further and remove the GPU bracket it improves air flow more that i coulda imagined, i see you use the HDD i didnt get any so i removed that for better air flow for both front fans, but good job getting started and yeah all acer predator gaming computers have subpar cooling but glad ya got a start on it, if you wanna go further those other upgrades are helpful.

Yeah the HDD came with the package. Did the GPU sag when you remove the supporting bracket? I was actually thinking of doing that too.

yeah, but i already had it planned out haha, i put a cooler master bracket underneath it thats all, well if ya dont like or use the hdd it can be removed heh, and can you add another fan to the cooler ? and i see your rocking 4 sticks of ram what ya did you put in there ? ohh and btw i added high velocity fans to my Noctua NH-U12A and it made a huge difference over the stock fans that came with it !!@!! when ya remove the bracket be very careful the 3 screws you have to remove from the inside part of the bracket that are screwed into the GPU plate are very small and cheap, i almost stripped mine out, its a PH00 square-phillips head from a micro tool kit.

Yeah a fan can be added to the cooler, the U12S package came with an extra pair of brackets to mount the add-on fan. Those four sticks of RAM came stock to the unit. 8G DDR5-4800 x 4 ram modules. Those two fans that you have on your cooler look like the cooler masters that came with the orion 5000.

yes good eye, they are from the stock cooler, mine and i got one from someone here who wasnt using theres, but in a few days when its all complete, ill post new pics, im replacing every acer-cooler master fan with cooler master high velocity mobius fans, and i was unaware of a 5000 that came with 32 gigs, i thought only the 7000 series came with 32 gigs of drr5 4x8, never saw a 5000 that came with more than 16 so thats cool.

ok all 7 new fans are in, cooler master mobius high velocity 5x120mm and 2x140mm, the only drawback i see now is the argb connections are not long enough to reach the MB, only the rear fan was, so there goes my cable management again haha, and sorry for the low res pictures i scale them back to 50% so they upload lol, one other thing i noticed is the lighting effects are not the same, the acer branded cooler master stock fans that came with the pc, those fans blades are clear, the mobius are white, but the argb effects are not the same, so that was a bummer because the leds are in the same place and same amount, not sure why that would matter and change the effects but it did.
