I trying to replace and upgrade my ram. I bought two 8gb 2666mhz sticks on amazon but when i installed it the screen started fine for like 5 seconds before going rainbow. I don’t know why it happened but I’m thinking it could be the MHz as task manager said i was running 2667 MHz but after i opened the computer to install the ram, the original stick says 3200MHz on it. So was the ram broken or did i order the wrong ram?

Ok, contact the manufacturer to find out if it is compatible with your laptop.

  • Hi @Dr_Pogger What model do you have exactly to check the characteristics of the supported memories?

In principle, the frequency should not cause the problem, but the modules may not be compatible with your motherboard.

  • Your laptop supports memory modules with frequencies of 2400/2666, so it shouldn't be the problem, neither is placing a 3200 module, but it won't be able to work above 2666.

The problem with new modules is that they must not be compatible with your motherboard.

I leave you screenshots of the service manual with the characteristics of the supported memory.

I also leave you a link from the manufacturer Crucial about the memories compatible with a Nitro 5 AN515-54

What brand and what reference do your new modules have?

Sorry for responding so late. I bought TimeTec, as for the reference I don’t know that means.
