Evening. As the title says, my AN515-43 is stuck on the Acer logo on startup.

What happened is that I left it connected to an external fan with the screen down. When I came back, it wouldn't turn on. I turned it on and off, but it was still stuck on the Acer logo. I can't access the BIOS, nor can I continue to Windows.

Nothing works. I have yet to try how to do a battery reset but I'm not sure how to do one. For the record, my laptop does not have a reset pin on the back.

If anyone's ever had this problem or can give me a suggestion/solution, it would be greatly apprecciated.

    Hi,

-If you can't enter BIOS, it is a hardware failure of the motherboard.

How do I get into the BIOS on an Acer?

The most common keys to enter setup on Acer hardware are F2 and Delete. On older computers, try F1 or the Ctrl + Alt + Esc key combination. If your computer has an ACER BIOS, you can restore the BIOS to boot settings by holding down the F10 key.

    Regards.

Thanks for your reply. I've pressed F2 while booting, and all I get is a black screen.

In short, if it's a motherboard failure, then I'm just screwed, aren't I?

My model does not have reset pins nor a detachable battery. It's built in.

  • If you repeatedly press F12 when turning on the computer, does the "Windows Boot Manager" screen appear?

  • The first thing would be to try to repair the start of Windows, do you have a Windows 10 installation USB or another PC where you can create an installation USB by downloading the Windows 10 ISO from the Microsoft page?

  • Let's try to access the repair options without a USB drive:

You turn on the laptop and turn it off by holding down the power button.

Turn the laptop back on and turn it off by holding down the power button.

You turn on for the third time and you should access a recovery screen, click on "View advanced repair options".

I did as much with the guiding of the official acer support team. My motherboard's probably fried and now my last option is bringing it to an Acer shop.

    Oh well.

    Thanks for everything anyways.

  • Okay, sorry I couldn't help you.

Please let us know about any progress on the problem.

    A cordial greeting.

Alright, I have no idea how but I fixed it.

Was sort of just trying stuff and a friend told me to try and take out the SSD.

I did so, now I could proceed to the BIOS, tried a windows bootable but couldn't install it on the HDD. In the end I bought a new SSD and I could install Windows 10 normally.

How did the SSD get screwed up, no idea, but I'm using my laptop as I type so I'm happy.

Hope this helps someone in the future as well.

  • @Bingus I am glad and thank you very much for sharing it in the Acer community, it will be very helpful to other users, best regards.
