FPS drops while plugged in and gaming (Acer Aspire A715-75G)

My Acer Aspire 7 can run games at constant 60 fps while on battery, but the second I plug in to charge, the FPS starts to fluctuate a lot. Instead of the constant 60 I was seeing earlier, FPS drops and keeps on fluctuating rapidly (sometimes dropping to 20 and sometimes 58-60).

My power plan is on Maximum Performance and under the Advanced Settings there, Minimum Processor State is at 50% for both Plugged In and On Battery and Maximum Processor State is 95% for both (I saw this fix on YT but it seems to have made no difference).

I should add that these are games that I normally get constant fps on without fps drops and I've tried decreasing my video settings all the way down to maximize performance.

If someone could help me with this, I'd be very thankful because gaming while on battery is limiting for me right now.
