Hi, The frame of my Acer Aspire 5 - A514-54 - 14" display is broken.

Where can I buy a new frame and who can fix it in Pretoria (South Africa)?

Thanks for any ideas...

    Hi @Pretoria

I have the 15" model (3 years old) and had the same hinge problem. Try to push everything back to the original position and superglue carefully (sparingly) the front cover (assuming that the little plastic clips are gone), make sure no glue spills onto the LCD screen. Also my light grey square plastic bar of the hinge came detached from the aluminum display lid; I glued that too and used a small glue clamp overnight to let it dry. Now I don't close the lid anymore, to put the laptop to sleep I use the F1 "Z" button. Only if I have to travel I close the lid carefully using my thumbs and index finger at the bottom hinge corners to avoid stress on the display cover. Not ideal but it works OK till I buy my next laptop in 2024-25.

You can get a new hinge assembly for your model but Acer Service will have to install that, not expensive but I decided to simply glue mine.
