Acer Swift 3 SF314-52 Battery Not Working

I bought my Acer Swift 3 SF314-52 a little over 4 years ago, and I have been experiencing problems with the battery. Two days ago, it was clearly charged around to 89% but died on me without warning within 40 minutes of using it. I went home, plugged in the charger and apparently it said my battery was still in the 80s so I didn't have to charge it after the initial reboot. However, I experienced the same issue yesterday where the battery went straight to 0% despite having a battery in the 80s. This time around, my laptop was essentially on life-support, with my charger having to be plugged in 24/7 for my laptop to turn on (0% charging, but battery doesn't actually charge past 0).

I've tried restarting, powering off my laptop, resetting the battery with the tiny reset button on the bottom, but all to no avail. I think it's also important to mention that the charging light is usually orange when I charge it, but ever since my laptop has been acting like this, the light has stayed blue with the charger inserted in. In my battery settings, it seems like my laptop is under the impression that my battery levels are still in the 80s despite being charged at 0%. I have the original charger and tried charging with a different outlet, so I don't think there's an issue with the charger itself.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Make sure you have done the full battery reset with the button, not just a click. disconnect power then press and hold the button for 15-30 seconds, release and wait for several minutes, then and only then plug the charger back in. Wait for the blue indicator light and try turning it back on. Sometimes the batteries get confused and doing a full reset will get the stats closer inline to the real world. Only then can you really tell if the battery has gone bad or not.

Thank you I have just checked it and it seems like there is an issue with the battery? I'm not too sure what 0mWh means, but nothing good I assume.

I was really hoping this wasn't the case, as it has been relatively lightly used these past years :( Thank you anyways!

I tried this again and it seems like my battery still isn't charging. Thank you for the advice, though!

    Update:

Apparently my laptop is back to normal??? 😭 This is super weird as I have been forced to use it while it charged at 0%, but I left it alone for maybe 30 minutes (?) and come back to it being charged at 100%.

We'll see how long this lasts :')

Glad to see that got you up again, though you likely want to force a Windows calibration or five... Run on battery until it shuts down due to low battery, then fully charge before turning it back on. Each time through that Windows will be a little better in knowing what status the battery actually has. If you do that a few times and it's still showing that ~50% range wear level then it is likely time to replace it. You don't need to replace the charger, since it seems to be working.

Thank you so much for all of your help! I followed your advice and it seems that the battery wear level is around 37% so I don't think the battery has to be replaced yet? Nonetheless, thank you for your time and I really appreciate all the help!!

Yeah, should need replacement right away, but you'll want to keep an eye on it. Sometimes they will work for a long time with that wear level and sometimes they'll go downhill fast...
