External Drives/USB Devices constantly disconnect 'not recognized' through usb readers

Options

Hello all,

My ConceptD 3 Ezel is having some serious USB problems. I've tried all the basic solutions you find through googling, but whenever I try to use any of my 3 external/internal drives over either of the 2 USB ports, they will randomly disconnect/not be recognized from the computer. Sometimes they aren't recognized after reboot, sometimes they'll connect for a while, sometimes I can't get them to connect at all. I get errors/messages saying a USB device could not be recognized, even when nothing at all is plugged in to any USB ports on the laptop (which has caused me to have to disable error messages regarding USB devices to be able to use my laptop at all, as it will just spam forever, constantly making the windows notification 'ding'). All drives/usb-hubs used have been tested and work fine on other PCs. I've tried both USB ports, not using the usb-hub, using a powered hub, changing the USB and power settings, uninstalling/reinstalling USB drivers for the laptop, and other of the fixes I've found through googling this issue all to no avail. I've been told at this point it is likely a problem with my laptop itself which makes sense given the info detailed above, so I decided to post here. During one of the disconnects, only of my drives corrupted, so this issue is really becoming a pain. For a laptop that's whole purpose revolves around multi-media and content creation, the fact that I can't even get external drives to work properly on it has been extremely annoying.

Thank you for any assistance, I'm pulling my hair out atm over this issue. If you need any more info, please let me know.

What is the exact ConceptD 3 Ezel model that you have? As this should not be happening with your laptop. This problem could be a quality control problem at manufacturing, as these USB ports are soldered onto the motherboard, and they are either faulty or their internal/external pins are fully/bent internally or these pins solder has partially dislodged from the motherboard pins, and with usage their pins have come lose or their internal pins got damaged (yes, I know that you have 2x ports that do this and are partially faulty) but the actual ports might have been faulty from the get-go.

If your ConceptD 3 Ezel is under warranty consult Acer Support and get them to fix this USB problem, otherwise you need to take your laptop to an experienced tech that has these same USB ports and also has experience and all the microscopic tools to replace and/or resolder these USB ports as its a specialist job and a user like you, can't resolder or replace these USB ports, don't attempt it as you will damage the motherboard!

Check pins # 2 and 3 which are the Data pins if they are not bent/damaged or any of the other pins are not the same.

I currently experience this same issue with my ConcepD 3 ezel. I have tried everything on google but nothing works. I bought a USB hub and my external drives and flash drive seem to be working for now but even though the USB hub has support for USB 3.0, any devices plugged into the USB 3.0 port through the USB Hub have failed to work, I have had to plug my USB drives and flash drives into the USB 2.0 port. The transfer speed is slow but at least it is better than nothing.
