Aspire V3-572G has started to get Blue Screen memory managment error and rebooting

Hi,

I've had this laptop for 5+ years and it has been excellent and no issues until recently. This error is now happening weekly.

I'm running Windows 8.1 64bit, and the Bios is version 1.26

I ran the memory diagnostic - no issues; and checked the Device Drivers and no warnings there.

The only update I have applied in the last few months is to update Chrome to Version 108.0.5359.126 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks Peter.

try updating drivers using IOBit Driver Booster.

try to downgrade to earlier Chrome versions.

    try System Restore.

last resort, reset to factory image or restore the backup image of the drive or reformat installing new operating system like Windows 10 or 11.

thank you, I'll look for the driver updates - although I think they are all uptodate.

I hadn't thought of downgrading Chrome I'll try that too.

    thanks :-)

Your problems are that you haven't got all the proper updates done and especially you don't have the latest bios version updated, that is why you are getting these BSODs. Update this laptops bios to the last version 1.32 and also update the OS to Win-10 Pro, as that is what you are entitled to from Win-8.1 with a free upgrade from Microsoft. Also make sure that after installing Win-10 you have all the windows updates and also install the Intel Driver & Support Assistant software to make sure that you have all the Intel drivers updates to their latest versions also.

If you do all the above, then this laptop will perform much better, also imo (as I speak from experience with a similar laptop) update the ram to 2x 8GB DDR3-1600 • CL=11 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 204-pin • 1.35V • 2Rx8 • PC3-12800. type ram (do a Crucial System Scan, as they sell this ram) and also upgrade the 2.5" mechanical HDD to a 2.5" SSD (if you haven't?) like the Samsung 2.5" EVO new range as all these combinations of these updates and upgrades, will make this laptop 100% + better and will give you no BSODs or crashes,

Btw and as I've said, I speak from personal experience, as I've had this older and previous model spec Aspire V3-571G with the Nvidia GeForce GT240M GPU laptop since new, to your V3-572G and I've done the following:

    1. Upgraded the CPU from its oem i7-3630QM to the higher spec i7-3840QM (as the V3-571Gs CPU can be replaced)
    2. Upgraded the mechanical 2.5" HDD to a 2.5" SSD Samsung EVO 850 (which is at least 5 years old).
    3. Got rid of the DVD optical drive and fitting a caddy and I’m using this laptops original HDD as a slave drive,
    4. Updated this laptops oem OS from its Win-8.1 to Win-10 Pro
    5. Upgraded and reprogramed the V3-571Gs bios none UEFI (as the latter V3-571Gs came with a UEFI bios) to a UEFI bios
    6. Upgraded the oem DDR3 8GB RAM to 16GB max total ram at 2x 8 DDR3-1600MHz. Btw you can also upgrade the ram to 8GB max total 2x 4GB DDR3-1866/PC3-14900 type ram as it works 100% with this laptop as that is what I had fitted and working before I upgraded the ram to 16GB at 2x 8GB DDR3-1600MHz that also works 100%.

This and another old Aspire 5750 laptop have been bullet proof and have taken all the abuse and everything 've thrown at them for over 12 years and still work unbelievably and just perfectly, Both have been operating perfectly and keeping up with all Win-10 updates and software without crashing or any BSODs for years. If you want to continue to use and operate your V3-572G laptop, then I suggest that you upgrade and make sure that you have all that I've done, as these laptops are a solid performing and reliable tool and a great first, second or third laptop to have laying around etc etc😁. Good luck and hope this helps you out some.

    Hi StevenGen,

    thanks for all the info.

I was thinking of updateing the BIOS to 1.32 as a start, but was "frightened" by the warning about only doing it if you were sure/confident about the need. I didn't want to make things worse :-).

this is now my 'spare' laptop for home so i was hoping it would just keep on keeping on.

I have been reticent to upgrade to Win10 as I was concerned how it would run with only having 8GB RAM, and I wasn't sure if this machine would take a RAM upgrade without a lot of knock on effects causing me to spend more money. Dr google had both good and horror stories about trying to upgrade.

While I am s/w literature, I am not so confident about changing h/w.

I might look to find a 'geek' who might be able to do it for me.

    cheers Peter

Yes, you shouldn't have any issues with a BIOS update, as long as you keep the charger plugged in so it doesn't get aborted in the middle. Your system performance will be OK in Windows 10 if you replace the HDD with a SSD, but remember your system is almost ten years old so there's only so much that can be done. Can you take a picture of the BSOD next time it happens? There is often some details there that help track down what the real issue is...
