Predator Orion 5000 PO5-640 it goes to 85 degree on CPU intensive game, looking for cooling upgrade

Hello everyone. As we all know this question has been asked many times, I have a Predator Orion 5000 (PO5-640) with i7 12700F, RTX 3080. Here is some questions on cooling and have and also some ideas.

During gaming on CPU intensive games like cyberpunk or COD Warzone/Multiplayer my CPU can git 85 degrees Celsius so Im looking for a cooler upgrade.

Measuring up the case sizes etc and also reading online for suggested coolers for this CPU I found four that im interested in. Two AIO's and two Tower coolers. Can someone recommend any of these and will they be compatible with the motherboard etc? Im a complete noob when it comes to building/upgrading PC so need as much help as possible 🤨

From AIO's I got:

ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240

NZXT Kraken X53

From tower coolers:

Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black

Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black

By going from measurements all of them should fit but I might be wrong lol. I would prefer not to take out the motherboard etc. SO has anyone got any experience with any of them? I did read on this forum that a lot of users on here use Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black but never seen nothing about AIO(preferred way for me as im a bit picky for looks😂) Thank you!

The Noctua NH-U9S is by far the most suggested model here... No need to pull the motherboard and a decent cooling advantage over the stock system. Performance matters, as does ease of installation, and the Noctua gives you those.

Makes sense then, but I would prefer to go for aio if possible without much hassle, do you know what sort of improvement in temperature is there with the NH-U9S? Thanks.

Most people seem to get about a 15C boost with the Noctua, IIRC.

i know a 240 can be installed someone here did it but it wasnt easy and had to basically break down the whole pc to get it installed etc..im not sure how you can find the article tho i came across it months ago in here....and the one acer makes is a single fan setup we can install but im told by most its no better than a cooler upgrade like the noctua so a 240 is needed for better results...if i go this route ill have geeksquad do it for me prob...or just get a different pc that comes with it already,,i still have 50 days left to return my 2nd po5-640-ub11 the first one died on me lol

After a lot of thinking about which way to go, I decided to go for an air cooler and picked up a Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black. Temps dropped about 20 degrees and never goes past 64 degrees in Cyberpunk on max settings with ray-tracing and all the goodies.

Did you have to remove the motherboard or purchase different screws to install that cooler?

There was no need to take the motherboard out and I had some m3 stainless screws lying about so used them.

Also used the stock fan from old cooler as pull on top of the case above the cpu cooler.

ok couple questions.... what's the mm length of the screws ? that seems to be the main problem with others installing the noctua fans and good idea reusing the stock fan from the cooler... i had thought about that ... i just wasn't sure if it would be better as intake or exhaust...you went with exhaust it seems .. and i also want to go with the larger fan like you did ... Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black instead of the smaller ones and they also sell that model in a dual fan setup would that be better ? and can ya post a couple pics of yours installed please n ty .... and I'm new to gaming i use default settings and the only game i currently own that gets my pc hot is Days Gone it averages 60 C but on default settings ..... i have no idea how to do max settings like you all do and what advantages it offers .... i have the same pc but with the 3070 and 48 gig of ddr 5 memory .... it looks pretty **** good to me so i may not even need to upgrade the cooler fan .. what ya think ?

Just installed the noctua u12a, I used m3 10mm screws from a set I got on Amazon, I tried 12mm as well but they seemed too long. I basically just removed the old cooler, put the blue stoppers on the old pins, and screwed the mounting brackets onto those with the m3 10mm screws. I had no issues with clearance with the fans either, honestly the hardest part was cutting the cable tie that was holding the cpu fan cord at the back top of the case.

Will post a few pictures tomorrow for you mate, Just after playing New Modern warfare campaign maxed out @62 CPU and 71 GPU with 21 degrees ambient temp in room on all extreme settings with all the goodies and max scaling so all seems good still lol. I used 12mm m3 screws and blue stand offs or what ever you call them as far as I can remember but will post tomorrow for sure.

I got the twin fan setup on the Noctua and will still have room for higher ram in future when I Upgrade as you can move one of the fans towards the tempered glass. I'm really surprised that Acer did not go for a better cooling on this machine as I would rather pay extra 50/100 pounds to have them temps out of the box. Also predator sense is set to AUTO on fans. Can finally play games without the headphones 🤣

Upgrade no. 1 on them machines and very simple even for a noob like me that never messed with PC's lol

Just upgraded to the noctula 9S chromatic black and it works great dropped temps about 15-20 degrees. I did have to buy some M3 screws from Amazon.

So I was having the same issues with my cpu overheating. Hitting 90+ playing warzone 2. Only thing that dropped it would having the fans on full which I didn't want all the time so I ordered the Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black and installed it today. Was a right pain for me! Had to remove all components to take the motherboard out to change the back plate which wouldn't come out easily. Never worked on a pc before this is my first pc, was a nightmare lol. But it was all totally worth it, temps are now mid 40s without having the fans run full. I used the spare fan from the old cooler as an additional exhaust fan. Attached a photo so you can see.

I believe most people are using M3x10mm screws, but slightly longer will work as well. Often they are available at your local hardware store as well as from venues like Amazon.

Greetings to all. I would like to share with you how I solved the problem of high CPU temperature. I studied the forums for a long time and thought about which system to put in air or on water. Came to the idea that you need to put the air. On this forum, many install Noctua coolers. But I think they are too expensive for an air system. I installed a Deepcool ag620 argb cooler. I ran the POWER OCCT test before and after installing a new cooler. And here are the results I got. After 15 minutes of the test, the native cooler showed 73 °C, after installing deepcool the temperature was 54 °C. I think this is a super result, and the backlight of the cooler fits very harmoniously into the body of our computer.

The only thing I don't like is the GPU temperature, which is 78°C. Is there any solution please? And another question. Does anyone know what manufacturer of the 3080 video card that is in our computers?

Noctuas are more expensive than most coolers out there, but it is also one of the best when it comes to cooling performance and sound. Anyway, good that there are other options too.

Your GPU temp is okay. I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless the fans get annoyingly loud under stress. If so, you can try undervolting your card with MSI Afterburner. With it you can easily shave over 10C from the temps without losing hardly any performance. Afterburner will also let you finetune your GPU fans more than PS ever will.
