BSOD Driver_Power_State_Failure on Brand new Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58

Hi Everyone,

My friend recently purchased a new Acer Nitro 5 Laptop

AN515-58

i5 12500H + RTX 3050 + 512GB SSD + 8GB RAM DDR4 + win 11

he is experiencing BSOD issue stating DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE even on basic tasks such as browsing or using MS word. It occurs 2 to 3 times a day but not everyday. Occasionally the laptop remains blank on cold boot, and force power off has to be performed and then a power on solves the issue. Its under warranty, when taken to service center they say its perfectly fine and the laptop was returned but after couple of days the issues kept constantly coming in.

Upon checking on BluescreenView app in windows it shows "ntoskrnl.exe" as an issue.

Solutions tried so far :

clean install of win 11 and drivers,

ran memtest86 (passed without errors),

uninstalled antivirus,

tried updating drivers,

updating bios to latest version,

reset bios to defaults.

is there any solution that could possibly help in resolving, and hope it is not a hardware issue.

Note: none of the components have been upgraded, the laptop is completely is in stock configuration.

    Hi,

    Try running sfcC /scannow command, then Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth command, repeat sfc /scannow at least 3 times and see whether it helps.

    It came pre-loaded with win 11 genuine key. so win 10 was not an option for us and few proprietary software we also require win 11.

    Is there any way that I can show acer the issue, why Acer doesn't consider the dump files?

  • The windows 11 key also works on windows 10. It would be interesting to see if this issue also occurs on windows 10.

    try the following:

    1. insert a usb flash drive to your laptop or desktop computer. (be sure to backup the contents of your usb flash drive)
    2. download rufus https://rufus.ie/en/, then run it.
    3. left click the drop down arrow next to the word "SELECT" and left click "DOWNLOAD" to download the original Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft. Watch the full tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me-GmdIlbgc&ab_channel=PortalSeven
    4. after that, press START. wait for it to finish.
    5. close rufus, open your usb flash drive then run the setup executable.
    6. be sure to backup all the files in Drive C: or any drive partition where the operating system resides before doing step 5.
    7. be sure you have a good internet connection for the contents of the flash drive to be updated to the latest.
    8. as the setup runs, select delete all files, like you are installing a fresh operating system.
    9. wait and trust the process to complete.
    10. after that, download the latest official drivers from Acer. https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/drivers-and-manuals
    11. download the serial number detection utility/tool to obtain the device serial number or SNID
    12. download all the drivers, extract each, then install.
    13. hopefully, your problem will be solved.
    14. driver problems happens when you restore your operating system using the recovery image.
    15. after all the drivers installed and working properly. make an image of the whole drive using macrium reflect, aomei, easeus, minitool and many others. Watch the tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9BGn4MivJw&ab_channel=BracerJack
    16. the purpose of making your own backup image of the whole drive is to shorten the restoration process in case of problems or malware attacks.

    Most of the drivers are not win 10 compatible, and the requirement is win 11 to be pre-loaded that is why a laptop shipped with win 11 is bought.

    Tried all the above steps twice. but no luck.


    The laptop was given for warranty as it is not even a month since purchased, the warranty people say they don't encounter any issues with laptop and returned. Later when he started his work it stayed problem free for a day and the very next day he started encountering the same issue. As this issue is not constant it is tough to showcase it to the people at Acer Warranty Center but when we try to show the dump files created by windows they refuse to accept. Is it like we will have continue with the issue for the rest of the life ? is anyone encountered similar situation ?

    What is the processor of your new laptop? Intel or AMD?

    I heard feedbacks that AMD has problems with some apps and has heat issues compared to Intel which is tested already through time especially the 12th and 13th gen Intel processors that is very good in multitasking.

    Maybe you have many installed programs which are not frequently used or just messed up your operating system. Uninstall some of them using IOBit uninstaller.

    Don't install apps with cracks, patches, and keygens cause they tend to mess up your computer.

    Maybe you have faulty drivers or incompatible drivers installed. Uninstall them first then use Windows Update.

    Download the latest official drivers from Acer. https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/drivers-and-manuals. Download the serial number detection utility/tool to obtain the device serial number or SNID and then select and copy either serial number or SNID and paste it near the magnifying glass icon then press Enter key or press the magnifying glass icon.

    The very first BSOD occurred during the first boot (DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE ERROR) , then restarted and tried using edge and preinstalled ms-office package. Again the BSOD creeped up after a day or two. So we decided reinstalling windows but the same error persists. All drivers were downloaded from Acer website and only genuine license applications are installed as it is a work laptop.

    Wanted to know if this ''DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE'' is a common error as stated by acer warranty team ? And I wonder how come this accepted....
