The EFI partition is usually hidden so folks aren't tempted to mess with it. It's required by the UEFI BIOS to allow Windows to boot. Windows probably won't allow any changes to be made to it anyway at least from the GUI environment. Leave it be.

Z : drive looks like a USB thumbdrive or other USB portable drive to me. Pull it out of the USB port and it'll probably disappear.

The Z drive in your earlier image is the Windows EFI partition that the BIOS looks for before it will allow Windows to boot. If the Z drive also shows up in File Explorer, then someone purposely assigned the letter Z to it using the command prompt or diskpart. Don't mess with it or your system won't boot.

I guess the windows itself created that drive cause it suddenly came when i reinstalled windows using bootable pendrive.

Is there any way to merge that drive to my c drive without losing data?

i understand that messing with it will be harmful , but still there should be a way right?

Afterall its not normal to show a Z drive there.

I have a strong doubt that windows created that drive because , while am selecting the drive for installing wndows , the windows itself created some partitions .

i deleted all those partitions from there while leaving the primary and installed windows.

    Maybe thats the reason?

If so , other than resintalling windows , is there any other solutions?

NO!! Don't even think about trying it or the UEFI Bios will prevent booting the C drive. It's part of the secure boot UEFI BIOS system. It's only a very small 0.1GB partition of the 250GB but is critical to the UEFI BIOS boot process. It is not a problem. So don't try to fix it. If Z shows up in File Explorer, I can walk you through removing the letter assignment. Otherwise, just leave it alone.

  • You can just remove the letter using disk manager.
