Open the Realtek Audio Console with the headset plugged in to see what you answered when it asked you what it was. If you told it that they were headphones the assumption is there's no mic, Delete the device, then plug it back and and choose headset instead of headphones.

I don’t have the Realtek audio console, and I can’t find it in the Microsoft store either. How do I download it ?

Check if you have waves maxxaudio pro app installed as your computer's audio configuration app.

Try windows x

Go to device manager - Go to sound video and game controllers. Expand it

Uninstall the sound driver from device manager. Please uninstall all the items below the sound video and game controllers. Restart the computer. It should work fine..

If it is still not working

Uninstall the sound driver from device manager

Dont restart the computer.

Go to support.acer.com

chose your country

type snid or chose your model

go to drivers

Install the sound driver

It should work fine..

Try to check the acer site for sound drivers

Able to see the drivers only for Windows 10. Unable to see the drivers for Windows 11

If it is still not working , you might have to go back to windows 10.

How to order acer recovery media

Please visit the website - support.acer.com - chose your country - click on shop. scroll down - click on eRecovery media on the bottom of page. Enter the snid no - you can place the order for recovery media. It might be a set of disks or recovery usb flash drive. Alternatively, on the top right corner you can find the phone no to contact Acer store. You can also order it from Acer store.

Recovery media is a unique media which is designed only for your computer. It cannot be used on any other computer. It comes with drivers and applications which is designed for your computer.

Try this method..

On a different working computer.

Go to the website

https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10

Below the info Create Windows 10 installation media

click on download tool now..

It will download the windows media creation tool - click on media creation file on the lower left corner.

Insert a blank 8 gb flash drive

it will download and install the windows 10 on the blank flash drive..

Now insert the flash drive on the broken computer

Boot it using flash drive..

go to bios by tapping f2 or del on keyboard while turning on the computer ( f2 for laptop, del key for desktop to enter into bios )

go to main menu - check the f12 boot menu - press enter on disabled - enable it if it is not enabled

go to boot option menu on the top - change the settings to boot mode - uefi -

secure boot - enabled - f10 save the changes

Try f12 while turning on the computer - chose the usb

click on install

chose custom

on where do you want to install windows screen - remove all the partitions

It will become like one single unallocated space

There is no need to format it..

chose the unallocated space

click on next

It will install the operating system.

The OP got into this mess because of people like you who don't know what they are talking about telling people to delete their drivers left and right.

If you read the OP carefully, it seems that he never had any actual problems in the beginning. He couldn't see a separate 3.5mm headset mic listing and he read people like you telling them to delete or uninstall their drivers. That's how his problems actually started since 3.5mm headset mic is never separately listed anyway so he never actually had any problems to begin with.

If you go to the Acer support site to find drivers for your AN515-44, download and install both the Audio and Audio Console for Windows 10. Once that's done use the Realtek Console to change things as described above. Acer hasn't released a separate group of drivers for Windows 11 yet, which means Microsoft hasn't got full support for W11 and that system. MS seems to be taking quite a while with the AMD support for older systems.

Which one is the install for audio driver console? There's not exe file so how do I install it?

It's either install_UWP or setup_APP.

Your laptop also come with xperi dts app.

If you install your realtek audio driver correctly, then there should be no need to install the realtek audio console app from the package above. It should already be "bought" for you and you running microsoft store afterward would pull the app automatically for you.

If you don't install your realtek audio driver correctly, then installing this realtek audio console app package actually doesn't do anything because it doesn't have all the necessary realtek software components. And you launching the realtek audio console app will give you an error message.

The app has always been called "control" in the microsoft store, but the actual app has always been called "console" when you actually launched it.

I never also had to actually install the version from acer's support website. When you installed the acer realtek driver correctly, it would be purchased for you automatically.

Did you install the app yourself or was it already "bought" in the microsoft store?

Plug in your headset, the computer should prompt you "which device did you plug in", select "headset". That's it. If not prompt, then go to realtek audio console and select headset. Make sure that you did press the mic mute button on your headset.

You are using your headset, 3.5mm headset is not a separate item. It's not going to be listed anywhere.

I installed the app myself through Microsoft store

In the app with your headset plugged in, look at the output devices. My guess is yours has them set as headphones, not headset. Delete that device, unplug them and plug them back in. When the popup asks you what they are choose headset instead of headphones.
