Microphone will not work for my laptop, Predator Helios 300.

Hello. I have had this issue for a long time and thought that it could just be my old cheap earphones, but when I recently bought new headphones and had the same issue, I realized it is most likely the laptop itself. Weirdly enough, I have no issue with recording audio with a separate mic, but when it comes to earphones or headphones, the mics simply will refuse to work. Funny. So, if anyone could help it would be great. Thanks. 😐️

Uhhh, I downloaded some drivers off of the acer website after inputting my snid, but now I have a useless .zip file and not a single soul on the internet actually teaches me WHAT to do with said .zip file. No .exe file for it to kindly install it self or what ever.

Also, as for uninstalling my drivers, no thanks. I tried something of the sorts with my camera when it too suddenly stopped working, following others guides of course. However, when I attempted to restart my laptop to "redownload" said deleted drivers, I never had it redownloaded. And now that there are no drivers for the camera, I will now have to use my expensive hard worked machine without a camera. I no longer have a way to use a camera and do not wish the same faith for my mic. If I am going to delete any drivers, it will have to be with a call with an acer employee or something similar.

Oh also, "Uninstall the sound driver from device manager" is too vague for me. I have "Intel(r) Display Audio", "NVIDIA High definition audio", "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)", and "High Definition Audio Device". There is no way for me to know which is "the sound driver", unless I risk it all by uninstalling what I believe would be replaced. No way for me to know, sorry.

The info given below is to educate that once we uninstall the driver from device manager and if we restart the computer it will automatically install the drivers.

    Try windows + x

    go to device manager

    expand the driver

Right click on driver name - Uninstall

Do not check the box - Delete software

    Restart the computer.

It will automatically install the drivers.

You can also download and install the driver from Acer site.

    Go to support.acer.com

    chose your country

type snid or chose your model

    go to drivers

Chose the driver and install the driver

You can do the same for the camera and sound driver.

I know how to unzip a zip file, I do not know however, where I should unzip it, or if I even have to? Uhhh, I uzipped it in its own folder now and uhhh, clicked some things that did some downloading stuff. More precisely "Install.cmd", and "InstallPackage.bat". They did some weird command terminal things, showed some code saying they downloaded stuff, then dissapeared and fixed absolutely nothing? Unless I have to restart my laptop? idk.

Delete which driver exactly? I have as mentioned before, more than one audio driver. These are the ones I have: "Intel(r) Display Audio", "NVIDIA High definition audio", "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)", and "High Definition Audio Device". I do not want to uninstall one, only for it to not be the correct one that will later be replaced with the new driver I downloaded. I seriously do not understand, is my laptop different from others?

SOLUTION FOUND! NO NEED TO UNINSTALL ANYTHING!

All I did was install the driver from the Acer website, then go to device manager and manually download the driver.
