My laptop started to have weird black horizontal lines going across on the top of the screen all of a sudden. I ended up resetting the computer back to factory settings and the problem persisted, even within the BIOS area. The only way I was able to originally get it to work was from opening a white background screen then the lines would go away. This worked for 2 days. Today, opening it back up, all it showed was a black screen with the top of the monitor showing a very little amount of a usable screen as shown below. The second picture shows that I can only see my mouse when i bring it to the top. Does this mean my screen died or my cable for my screen needs to be readjusted back in or something else? The third picture below is after I log in (it was black the entire time logging in). What should I do?

You need to check the eDP cable if its connected to the screen/mobo properly or its damaged, as these lines like you have are symptoms that are due to either the eDP cable/plugs are damaged or have shorted pins with their plugs or the actual screen is damaged and needs replacing. If you can do dismantle your laptop or change the screen it will be cheaper, if you can't then I suggest that you take your laptop to a tech to do this job as its very specialised and needs expertise to be fixed.

If you need to replace any of the above components these are the Acer OEM listed parts:

    eDP Cable

For the Screen its best to get the exact part number from your old screen and match that, as the below screens is a list of all the screens that Acer fits to the AN515-55 laptops, also I recommend that you look at LS screens who have a great range of all Acer laptops screens if you need to replace your screen.
