While playing a game, no matter the graphics or type of game, the CPU will max out at a temperature of 100 degrees and I'm worried of damaging it. Is there a way to prevent this? I've been trying gaming mode, etc with not much difference.

I'm possibly interested in buying another heat sink to replace the current one, as the GPU temperature is completely fine but not the CPU.

Forgot to mention: I received this PC today and only started using it.

The first thing that you should do is to check the cpu cooler fan if its functioning properly and at 100% and also take this cpu cooler out and check if there is enough or any cpu thermal pasted applied? As for a new desktop for its cpu to run at 100c ior is it F temps? As if its 100c that is dangerous and there must be either something wrong with the cpu cooling fan or paste or both.

Also the best and most effective thermal paste is the Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme or the more specialist thermal paste of their Conductonaut liquid metal thermal compound that needs expert application as this thermal compound is conductive and has to be expertly applies as and if this liquid metal is applied too much then it can leak onto circuities surrounding the cpu and destroy not only your cpu but the motherboard also but, this liquid is the best for reducing cpu and gpu temps and its far more superior to normal thermal pasts.

The best cpu cooler for your restricted PO3-640s desktop cpu spaces is the Noctua NH-U9S chromax.black which is just as good as an AIO water cooling cpu cooler setup, also and if you want you can change the OEM 2x 92mm (Acer part# DC.10911.00N) case fans to the Noctua NF-A9 PWM chromax.black.swap that run at 2000rpm, noise dB/A at 22.8 and extract at 78,9m³/h that come with a 4-pin PWM connector, that all these upgrades will improve your desktop cooling.

Thank you, I will buy the CPU cooler and fans but I’m relatively newbie when it comes to that. Do I need to buy any special mounts or anything?

What does the stable temperature look like when running the games? Peaks of 100C are high but not a worry unless you are staying near that. On this laptop, for instance, I am running around 70C steady but maxes are at 96/97/98/98C for the four cores.
