AN515-53 Won't allow 3 displays using USB 3 to HDMI adapter

I'm trying to use my Nitro laptop with an AtGames pinball machine. To do that, I need to be able to connect to 2 external video outputs. I know that the USB-C port can't support video out natively. I got an active USB-A to HDMI adapter and loaded the Microsoft MSDisplay_MultiDev_v1.0.0.18.0 driver included with the adapter. I connected everything up, rebooted and only got a signal on the built-in HDMI port. The Device Manager sees the adapter as a MS External USB video and it also sees a generic sound device when it's plugged in, even when it's not outputting a signal. The Displays control panel does not see it and won't detect it. However, if I pull the built-in HDMI cable out, after a couple of seconds, the adapter begins outputting to the display it's connected to. If I plug the built-in HDMI back in, the Displays control panel will show 3 displays for a split second and then, shut off the signal from the adapter and activate the built-in signal.

I've tried updating firmware and drivers. I've tried changing the order that I plug the cables in. I've tried it on a completely different set of displays. I've tried it on different USB ports on the laptop. It just refuses to see 3 displays at once. I'm running Win10. This SKU has a GTX 1050Ti card inside. The GEForce drivers are current. I sure hope someone has seen this before. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
