Swift 3 SF315-41. Bizarre behavior inserting date & Time when certain keys pressed
Noticed odd behavior when using the laptop as it would lose window focus or automatically refresh a web page. Couldn't understand why
I was in the search element of the start menu and I saw a load of "x" being input as if the key was stuck down. Pressed esc this stopped the entry
Opened notepad to see what it was doing and I started testing each key 1 by 1
When I hit a 3 or a 4 it continuously inserts the current Time & date. Over and over again, until I press a key
I.e notepad would look like this if I press 3
317:20 16/11/2022 17:20 16/11/2022 17:20 16/11/2022 17:20 16/11/2022 17:20 16/11/2022 17:20 16/11/2022 17:20 16/11/2022
I also noticed it would start inserting the date & time if I adjusted the screen tilt
Any ideas?

Hi,
Switch off the laptop, disconnect from mains, follow the instructions in the video, leave the laptop to rest for 15Mins, reconnect AC adapter and see whether it helps.
No 2 is the reset pinhole in my snip.

Hi, I tried that it had no effect on the problem

OK, give this a try, go to Device manager, expand Keyboards, right click Standard PS/2 keyboard and select Properties, move to Driver tab and uninstall the driver, reboot and let Windows install the driver.

already tried that
Feels like there may be a loose cable or a short around that area of the chasis

Also noticing when the key is pressed and the malfunction happens the keyboard backlight turns on.
It doesnt do that on other keys

If you are out of warranty period, you could try reseating the Keyboard cable.

No problem, yes that's sensible thing to do.

Sounds like the F5 key is the one that's stuck, F5 inserts time and date in Notepad.
