Hi. I've recently upgraded to a better m.2 SSD and had to swap out the OEM one, which had the pre-installed Windows. Instead of cloning, I did a fresh install. However, whenever I try to install Predator Sense it just gets stuck on "Installing Services". Searched a bit online and figured it is due to the Generic Windows installation, I guess the app and the OS are not compatible? Anyway, I still have the OEM SSD and the question is - are there any performance differences between OEM and Generic Windows for the Predator Helios 300? I can easily live without PS but might consider cloning the OEM OS if there are more drawbacks.

My specs:

Device name: PH317-52

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz  2.21 GHz

GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1060 6GB / INTEL GRAPHICS UHD 630

Installed RAM: 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable) UPGRADED

Drives: SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS / SAMSUNG 870 EVO UPGRADED

[Edited the thread to add model name to the title and issue detail]

What OS are you running on your PH317-52, is it Win-10 or 11 latest 22H2/22621.819? As the differences between the original Microsoft OSs and the Acer OS is that they are 99.99% the same but the Acer OS has its own bloatware apps. I don’t know if this has a bearing on PredatorSense but as far as I’ve experience with my Nitro 5 and the NitroSense it does NOT!

Just as an example, I've upgraded my Nitro 5 AN515-56 (which is only a 7-month-old laptop) which was shipped with the Win-10 Home, I upgraded its OS with a "Clean Install" months ago to the old Win-11 version, I've also updated it again, to the newest Win-11 version 22H2/22621.819 and NitroSense is working 100% on my Nitro 5 and has always worked on Win-10 or 11.

If you are running Win-10 you should have no problems with PredatorSenseas version for your PH317-52, as it has all the appropriate Win-10 drivers. But and if you are running Win-11 your Predator Helios 300 drivers updates for Win-11 is not available from Acer and that could be a problem within Win-11 but really should work the same as all the Win-10 drivers have been updated by either Microsoft. Intel of NVidia for Win-11, if you haven't got the latest bios updated version, try to update the bios to the latest version 1.14 "1. Change bios capsule update priority to fix seamless recovery fail." dated: 2022/11/10 but be very careful with all bios updates as Acer warns all users that "Upgrading your system BIOS incorrectly could harm your Acer product. Please proceed with caution." and see if that helps.

Btw Nitro 5 users have had the same problems with Nitro Sense and have installed the newest Win-11 versions and it worked, so try to install the latest Win-11 Predator Sense Date: 2022/08/29 Version: 3.00.3192_20220530 which is for the Predator Helios 300 PH315-55-70ZV | Intel® Core™ i7-12700H processor and see if that works for you.

It came with pre-installed Windows 10 but after the upgrade I did a fresh install of Windows 11. The current version is 22H2/22621.819, so I guess I'm up to date in that regard.

Thanks for clearing the details in terms of performance. Every single driver and software (except PS) provided in the acer website for my specific model work completely fine with the current system, so maybe it is just a bios issue? I'll give it a go down the road, will see if it helps. Thanks again!

Also, this is the article I was referring to, although from what I understand, the user had an OEM OS running:

Yes, both the Acer Care Center and Quick Access applications. And they work perfectly fine.
