Sorry, I meant waste of memory because normally 16GB is more than enough in my opinion unless you do some work needing more RAM, 2133MHz modules are very hard to get these days, so I would suggest you buy 2400MHz modules.

You are welcome, if you don't mind single channel function, you can use a 16GB in one slot, if you prefer dual channel function, go for 2x8GB, there's not much difference in speed between single channel and dual channel.

You can upgrade memory up to 32GB with DDR4 2400MHz SODIMM modules, but it will be an overkill, so I would suggest you upgrade up to 16GB(2x8GB) with DDR4 2400MHz SODIMM modules.
