Hello. Can someone tell me how to extract the BIOS? I want to give the BIOS to a modder who will introduce new ACPI compatibility and make my BIOS compatible with Linux kernel 5 (and up). Currently, kernel 5 (and above) give ACPI errors during the boot process.

The laptop: Aspire A315-22

The BIOS: Phoenix Technologies Ltd. V1.09, 5/15/2020

Thanks.

Its not allowed to give any bios mods advice and/or how to alter a bios. Sory these are the forum rules.

Your BIOS should already support most ubuntu & debian mainstream installation distros without changes. Please post a phone photo of the BIOS Information tab if possible.

Nah, Acer has gone done packed their BIOS file inside an .exe package so there is that…

OP has asked a valid question and given the reality on the ground (its inside an .exe file), I think its perfectly OK to discuss ways for legitimate *nix users to access the BIOS file if they need to. Laws and rules should never be straight jackets which blindly enforce compliance to the exclusion of basic reason and logic; even something as inviolate and sacrosanct as a forum rule.

No rules against google searching any keywords. However, firmware for this model should already support most ubuntu & debian mainstream installation distros without mods.
