Mini DP version for helios 300 ph315-54-72ek
Hello highly intelligent people! I have a helios 300 ph315-54-72ek, model n20c3. I was thinking of using an external monitor for gaming but I am unsure if what version of mini displayport comes with my unit. My hdmi is v2.1 but hdmi 2.1 monitors are quite expensive. I'm aiming for a 1440p 240hz display through a mini dp to dp connection and I am not sure if that will support the fps and resolution stated above. Please and many thanks to you guys in advance.

As your monitor at 1440p or 4K can mean more screen space and better-quality visuals and video, so using a recent generation HDMI or DisplayPort cable that your monitor should have is what you should use. Alternatively, for a leaner desk environment with fewer overall cables and plenty of bandwidth, USB-C and Thunderbolt cables may be the best option.

Thank you for your prompt reply StevenGen! Some 1440p 240hz monitors in the market only support hdmi 2.0 that limits it's frame rate to 144hz. Would the displayport over usb-c be able to support a 1440p 240hz display? I was thinking of using the mini displayport but unsure if it would be able to run 240hz on a 1440p.

The hdmi is backward compatible mostly and will work, try that first as that is what is the best connection.
